Just ordered my Beam, looks like my V2 will be collecting dust or test dummy for those moves I don't want to try yet!

..not sure if I'll be banned from this Beam forum as I'm using the Align Stuff to get the Beam off the ground!

Its arrived at work, can't wait to start building, not going to happen until the weekend though aaaaahh!

Still plenty of time to read the instructions over lunch!

I'm sure you will enjoy the build.. It goes together really well. I would take most thinks apart and threadlock them.. and also put some of the bearing lock on the bearings on the arms, swash, and the bearing on the tail output shaft.

Thanks for the tip on treadlock, I stripped all the pe-built parts and treadlocked them, I'm now sick of treadlock.... did I mention threadlock.. sits in corner shaking.

Frame built head built, boom is tight in clamps.. very tight even without the big bolts, very nice build quality looking forward to flying this one. Must admit the canopy sucks going to do my own airbrush canopy, depends on the plastic though.

Beam build going well until I tried pulling the boom out after putting it the wrong way, hands slipped off hit the rotation bracket broke that and bent the tail shaft.. not even got off the ground yet!

All that's left is the boom supports electrics (thank you V2) set up, looking forward to this.

I'll keep you posted on the canopy paint scheme when the white one arrives and video of first flight.

We have lift off!

Don't know what the head speed is, running 12t with an Align 37k seems a bit fast motor heats up I guess I need a 10t?

Any suggestions i.e. Pinion, motor?

First hover tracking spot on (lucky!) 401 needed shifting to stop tail drift, now OK with a slight kick when I jam the collective.

I moved the heli from left to right really quickly and was pleased with the reaction and very stable in the gusting wind in my garden.

Did the Chinese weight mode, I also used my airbrush Align canopy which fitted bang on with the motor wires making it a snug fit.

Next step is to take it to the park after finding out which pinion to use.

A good motor is the Scorpion 2221-8, which evorc did as a package together with the scorpion esc, which seems to be a good reliable combo, and runs pretty cool.

I run mine on 14T and has good power; but it will really depend on what your flying style you want out of it. If you are running a 12T and feel it is too fast, I would try an 11T. 10 T I think you may find may slow the h/s down too much.

The Align motors do tend to run hot.

I guess its a different belt system to the 450rex and sounds different as well, I need to give a blast and time it. My flying style is smooth, just learning to do flips and inverted so I'm beginning to want more out of it so may I'll stick with what I have and just drop down idle v to 95-90-80-80-90-95. I'll take your advice on the 10p, headspeed is good, stick with 12t... ta

Nice to see a vid of your test flight! I'm sure that you will enjoy it.. (Much more over the V2!)

It really is a nice heli, and sure that you will find it being way smoother than the v2 in flight.
