  • Beam = Amazing...

    Love it..

Took it for a few packs tonight after a few setup faults that I had made. Its so smooth and sharp it knocks spots off the 450, and I really rate the se v2.

    Too the field tomorrow..Cant wait

    Happy Days

Picked mine up yesterday - did a swap with tibbs for my Knight 3D. My Beam is just about ready to rock'n'roll later this weekend. My first ever lecky heli.

              Looking forward to it.

Would be interesting to see how it compares to the newer Trex 450 Pro. I just don't know how a heli can be more stable or quicker. Mind you before the Trex I had a Blade 400 which now seems like a crazy wobbly thing.

Both helis have been compared on here quite a few times before. You get ppl on both sides backing one or the other.

I have both the PRO and the BEAM, and TBH love both of them to bits. Both are very capable helicopters. If both are kitted out with similar gyros, motor; for me it is a difficult choice as to say which one I prefer over the other.

The BEAM for me though has some quite nice design touches. I do like how the boom is angled slightly to give a better clearance when taking off from grass, the belt drive is very smooth. Ease of repairs, and to work on will win over the Pro. I have put 450v2 landing struts, which give it a slightly wider, and tad higher clearance, aftermarket aluminum tail servo mount, and also the Horizontal fin clamp from the 450 Pro, and also the 450 flybar which is longer than the standard BEAM one, which gives it better response. It's just as I like it now, and cannot see myself getting rid of it.

When I go out for a fly though, the 450 I grab is usually the BEAM

Well said Andrew, pretty much totally agree with that

Your Pro has the Scorpion motor and now you have swapped the 410m`s out,how does it compare with the Beam using the standard Align motor compared to the Beams Scorpion as standard?

I pretty much changed over the motor as soon as I bought the heli. I gave it a few flights on the standard motor, but was not happy how hot it was running. Had good power though It was said that it was designed to run hot... but not really convinced by that statement, as magnets and heat don't really mix. I really didn't have the chance to compare the standard motor on the pro with the beam.

Haven't had the chance to try out the new servos, but it probably won't much so much difference to the way it flies.. was really a matter of precaution, and peace of mind for myself.. Inwood Models had such a good price on the Hitec digital servos, I didn't want to miss out on the chance at that price

It's glad to see a couple more ppl on RCHA with the BEAM, and sure that they will like it!

Abit off topic, but what are the servo's of choice for 450 size models these days.

                        Cheers
