Ash, please dont take this as a dig, its not, but there is very little ever written about the G5, be it good or bad. As Pete said earlier it has gone very quiet on that front. How do you rate it compared to say the Rave then as they are the same disk size.

The Rave is pretty good. Kills dampers quick but other than that it's a nice heli to fly. I have posted a vid previously (it's on my vids on youtube too). I like the look of the Rave, having a soft spot for the Vibe...
The G5 is still the best 450 class heli I have flown - and outside of the 450 pro, I've flown all of them. Certainly all of them that are worth flying to any sort of 3D capability (as far as I know!) - the G5 has beaten them all for me, no question.
Rock solid, very accurate cyclics, powerful heli - it's got it all IMO.

Except for looks! I know people that won't even consider one, me included, because of the way it looks! It's one of those love/hate style machines in terms of looks.Originally posted by robgt View Postit's got it all IMO.

If they do update the model to a PRO version or whatever I think it would be prudent for them to bow to the masses and change the look of it, skids and canopy, much in the same way they have done with the 50 nitro!
I am abit surprised that the likes of Beam and Trex 450 pro don't have a 350mm blade boom option upgrade.

The beam 350 blade conversion I think is being looked at.
I would be interested to give this ago
Paul, I also agree about the looks of the G5. Somehow the lines just don't seem to match up, however I've been told they fly very well but not had ago myself yet.Last edited by mattie-lodge; 23-05-2009, 10:11 AM.

The rave does fly diff to the others, hangs alot better and is killer on pitch, head dampers are still ok on mine after 4 months but are getting near the end of there life, in fact will be taking the spare dampers to the field today in case i need to change them out.
Rave is a different animal, flys like a 500 on speed, run mine on 350 blades and is so nice to fly, but not as acurate as the other 2 main competatorsJames

There is a thread on HF about how to stretch the 450 Pro to 350 blades.
He used a Zoom 450 booms that an exact fit and you can get the exact size Allly tube for the TT.
Not bothered myself but i can see the benefits.
No doubt once Align the upgrade masters have flogged loads of 450 Pros to everyone they can launch the must have stretch kit and convince everyone to buy one of those too after seeing the mandatory JK vids of course
