  • What esc is everyone using on their Beam

    Hi

just bought my beam from Rob and when it arrived .. just could not believe the size of the Scorpion 55amp esc... the only place to mount it is to the side frames.. SoI might go with an align one or a Castle creations one instead..and mount it in the tray under the battery with the rx at the back of the heli

I have read on other forums that the 55amp esc from scorpion has some issues with heat etc, so it would be good to get some imput prior to spending more cash

Not sure if you ve seen the Finless vids on the E4. He agrees that the Scorp is too big and uses 'a generic' under the batt.

Be interested as I hav one not started yet and the ESC looks huge!!

                Hey Mike.

Mines on the side too stuck on with double sided foam and a couple of loose cable ties. It does get a little warm if you push it but no probs with it so far and you know how horrible I can be to my 450s

After writing the Scorpion speed controller off with the first crash I'm now using an Ace 40A esc which was off my Mini Titan. It's nice and small and fits easily under the battery, copes well with my feeble attempts at 3D and lands warm. After a flight this afternoon my Revo 2100 pack was pretty toasty, the esc was warm, this is with the -8 motor and the 13T pinion.

I don't suppose you have any pictures of that do you?

I'm just figuring out exactly where to run the wires for my Beam with the same ESC and it is always great to see how others have decided to fit theirs.
