Yes - but other stores are available... there are plenty of other sites, but seeing as I was at work I dont have the time to trawl for someone, I was only trying to help out! Perhaps you could have been more constructive by finding a supplier with one in stock?

What would be the best technique for putting loctite on bearings? Would it be to put a drop at the edge of the bearing while it is in position and let capillary attraction do the rest? or some other method altogether?

Unless I'm missing something obvious here, the very first assembly step in the Beam manual tells you to loctite the ball bearing into the upper bearing block.

Am I just being really stupid or something

A small smear of grean locktite on the block the bearing goes in to for both the upper and lower bearings. Carefully push the bearing in to the block and remove any traces of locktite from the bearing faces.

Dont go crazy with the locktite, it is only a small smear, not the whole of the block

When you crash, check these main bearings - they sometimes need replacing. To check them, place a main shaft in one of them, tilt it slightly and rotate, if it is notchy (you will feel the difference when it is) then replace.

Cheers for the bearing advice. I'll probably read throught your build blog again before I get started anyway.

Just checked the manual re: the main bearings, they state red. I find red a bit too runny where as green is more gloopy. Leave them overnight if possible, but not essential.

I recommended that motomikey purchase Loctite 261 which is the correct adhesive for holding the bearings in the blocks. It is designed where disassembly is required.

I would put one small drop at two points on the bearing outer ring and then put the bearing in the block. Those two small dots will spread out to form a good bond.

Is that the same as Loctite 262 Andy, couldnt find a 261 on the web.

I use RT38 (from modelfixings) and I have also used Loctite 638 which is great for pinions - both are green.

Not bothered with the red at all on bearings.
