My first heli.

Hello everybody,
I got myself a beam E4 for Christmas and finally did my first maiden flight last week. The first flight I was not very lucky and destroyed the rear blades. I quickly ordered a new set from evorc (very good service) and got some extra stuff as well. Rechecked everything again and today did 5 flights with out problems. This is my first heli and I have been practicing on the phoenix for the last 6 months which has really helped me to fly this heli. I have read everything on this forum about the beam which has helped me in completing the beam. Thanks for all the information you guys have submitted here to help a noob like me.

Congratulations on your first succesful flights

Practicing on pheonix must have been worth it and you have shown alot of restraint to practice for so long before flying the heli.

Thank you guys. Phoenix really helped a lot and I wanted to be sure I could hover in all directions before buying one, but the information here has really helped me to set the heli right. The build log from jiberjaber really helped and with out this I am sure it would not have gone this easy..
The beam flies much better then the trex 3D in phoenix. I am really happy I bought the Beam.

You prob picked the best 450 you could have.
Great choice and well done on the flying.
Prob saved yourself a ton on the way too by avoiding all the low end cr@p, practising on Phoenix for so long and then getting a great heli.

just picked up all my servos, gyro and other bits from fast lad 2day, so if the weathers pants 2morrow i might start it

Hello Mark,
Seeing that this is my first heli all i can say that it goes together really well. I disassembled every part to know how it works and to get to know the heli. I also watched the finless videos but found the build log by jiberjaber easier to follow as I could print it and read it will I was building.
Enjoy your build, as I really enjoyed building the Beam. It is a real master piece and flies really well.

I've just put the Beam swash on my Trex 450 and it's much better so I reckon Adrian's right - you did buy the best!

Hi Phil,
So you've managed to put the swash on the 450 hey?
Is it a direct replacemnet?
Any link changes or anyhting like that?
How does it feel now that you have?

We found not only the swash but the gearbox and tail rod and boom brace are a good replacement, advantage to the swash seems it wears better but when it does it's repairable for very little money.
