  • Beam E4 has arrived :)

My Beam E4 arrived today, thanks to Rob at Climbout/Evo RC. The quality of the parts look to be top notch. I have to say I am really looking forward to the build.

I got the combo with the Scorpion motor and 55A ESC. It looks like I am going to need to order a 12T or 13T pinion, as the kits are supplied with 14T & 16T if I recall correctly.

I won't bother covering the build as this has been done very well by Jiberjaber

    Cheers

Sounds good Russ. The standard Align pinions will work well. Which motor did you get?

Good choice, I think I might be getting one as the battery life is a little short on the -6

A quick update on the Beam build... the airframe is complete, time to start on the electrics.

I really enjoyed building the kit, everything went together well, instructions are top notch. Its certainly a 'builders' kit has very little is pre-assembled

Evo RC also have some tasty looking painted canopies...

            Cheers

Russ - check the thrust bearings in the blade grips, after my crash I took a look as I need to change the feathering shaft, there doesn't appear to be any grease in there, might be worth adding some lithium or similar. I have checked the tail and they are fine, no thrust bearings etc.

                Thanks

I did take the thrust bearings out and greased them, and they were dry. I did not manage to get the inner cup out as it appeared to be a pretty tight fit in the grip...

I'll report bact once the electronics are fitted...

                Cheers

Just general likes and comments about the building.

Few things about building, the whia 0Ph cross head is a good fit for the screws.

Frame set needs to be built on a flat surface before tightening up the frame bolts, but bits like the boom clamping is the best I have seen so far.

Just silly things like the landing skids fitting are easy, the manual is in a logical sequence.

The swash has zero slop when new and in the long term its all replaceable (cool idea)

Its all very close to a 100% perfect fit, on the whole build, only thing I changed was the Elevator servo, I fitted this on the inside and used a smaller length ball, I removed a little of the top part of the servo to allow it to clear.

The placement then moves the servo inside the whole line of the heli.

The links start a little tight, but bed in very well.

In the end its Addictive to build due to the ease of the build and the quality of the parts.
