I recently decided to change all the gears on my t-rex 700 nitro to the new black ones. The helical pinion and main gear are fine but the new black auto gear made a horrible noise. It was so bad I have had to change back to the original straight auto gear. Has anyone else had this problem with the new black auto gear?

Odd....I have 3 machines soon to be 4 all with black main, auto and tail gears no problem here...

Mesh is fine. Did your models sound a lot quieter after changing to the helical gears?

I know i dont have the black gears, but on my 700n DFC the main and tail auto gears (helical cut) are extremly quiet and mesh really well.
Maybe you got a duff gear tht wasnt consentric?!?!Comment

Alex has been using the black tail and drive gears on his 700e DFC when Align "up graded" them at the start of the year.
When I fitted these gears back in January the tail drive felt notchy and a little stiff, and produced quite a bit of whine when being used. After a short time this noise eased off and the notchy feel disapeared. I found these gears to be very tight in the bearings ad a bit of a pain when adjusting the positioning to get the best / smoothest fit available.
