  • OS 105 hx r over fuelling ?

    hi guys i had a problem with the 105 at the weekend, engine cut out whilst on tick over went to restart and its locked up with fuel. so much its spraying out the head with the plug out, the allign starter has no chance of turning it. it has been rich cos it only has had four tanks through it so went in with the slow running adjust by half a turn as was one turn out, still stalled and then hydralliced again! any suggestions? and no i do not want a YS 120

    What are your high and mid needle settings - are you letting the pressure off between flights otherwise your just going to fill up your motor with fuel while its standing there unless you block the fuel line or bleed off the pressure. Personally I release the pressure after every flight.

      The regulator blocks sometimes.

      Release the pressure after each flight as soon as the engine is off by removing the pressure line and letting it all come out.

      You can often tell when this has happened because fuel is coming out of the carb. Mines done this a couple of times in flight. There doesnt seem to be a fix - it just happens from time to time.

      One thing you may have sucess with rather than taking the plug out is to tip the heli on its side so the exhaust is on the bottom and try to rotate the engine with your fingers. If you cant turn it any further, get your fingers into the fan and turn the engine the other way. Rock it back and forth a bit and sometimes it forces all the fuel thats hydrolocking it into the exhaust and then you can start it just fine.

      If it does do this to you the regulator is stuck, but i always find after un-hydro locking, releasing pressure and starting it up again and revving its generally ok again. Its not really a problem with yours per-se, they all seem to be doing it.

        as stuart has said above, clamp fuel line and bleed the pressure of after every flight.

          Yeah have been doing that just seems weird that stall at tick over go to start again and locked up! Maybe just allign starter not enough and plug weak from running so rich as new cheers fellas will check next time out as have now got dynatron

            I am out half a turn with slow needle and two and half with high needle

              give the idle needle a tiny twist to lean it roughly 1 clicks movement if it was the mid or high. what is your needle settjngs on the mid and high and what muffler are you using.

                way too rich on the high.....goto 1.5 turns....then fiddle from there.

                  mine is just over 1 turn on the high and 1/4 on the mid but it will differ on fuel and pipe used.

                      OS 105 hx r over fuelling ?

                      My os pipe is 1 turn out on the mid 1.5 on the high.

                      I've also leaned the low end slightly
