  • 2 in 1 Voltage Regulator problem?

As mentioned in previous thread, I have a recently acquired previously owned 700N. I think I have a problem with the voltage regulator, but not sure.

When I switch on, the 2 red LEDs light and stay on. The green LEDs flicker, some go out, sometimmes all are on. If I poke the switch gently the level of lit LEDs can change.

I thought the red LEDs are on when the glow button is pressed and go out the rest of the time ??

I put a voltage indicator on the balance lead of my LiPo and it shows a consistent ~ 4v/cell - no drop off when I waggle the sticks.

    Any advice please? Ta

Then actual switch sounds dodgie, or maybe the lead. Try take apart the switch 4 no little Philips screw, clean out with brake cleaner reassemble. Might fix it and try again

Also consider getting a Scorpion backup guard or similar. Peace of mind is well worth a few quid.

Some previously owned things have a problem that didn't get fixed. It could be a switch or a connector. Best to take it out and have a good poke about and inspect. You could have a connection that's nearly broken or broken and just works by touch.

          Thanks guys.

I took it off and opened the case and found the switch assembly was somewhat loose. Rather than spray it with contact cleaner I decided a little prising of the metal tags and it would come apart for inspection. Mistake!!

As I prized it apart ......... ping!! The thing came apart and shot across the room ........ aaaaargh !

Upshot was I actually managed to find the bits and put it back together, making it a snug fit together. Very small and fiddly but it works much better now.

One thing to remember - tip here - when re-inserting screws into a plastic thing, I always drop the screw in and then gently wind it backwards untill the thread drops into place and then note it is easy to screw in, without resistance at first. Else if it is just banged in, the screw can cut another thread and then soon there is no thread and the screw will never tighten.

A good quality regulator flightpower/fromeco etc and a pushglo or a alternative glow igniter!

Well I have ordered a replacement reg and separate remote glow from midland today as I decided that I would not be stripping down the switch

If the switch is dodgy, remove it all together and bridge the connection to have it permanently on.
Use the batt connection or another switch.
