Window cleaner and some of them small sponges that are for cleaning dishes with the abrasive side torn off a paint brush is handy also...you can break peaces of and push them through all the little gaps and crevices between the frames...be careful of using oven or kitchen cleaner I took the surface of a set of blades using a Mr muscle product...also be careful that you dont ruin your pads that hold gyros down...I used methylated spirits once and anything that was stuck down fell off...giving the model a good clean is is also a time for fault finding.....

One sheet off the kitchen roll, just wipe down any visable oil on the blades, boom, gearboxes and side frames , put the exhaust bung in to stop any drips disconnect the battery, takes at most 5 minutes that it

With my nitro I just wipe it over with the align towel that came with the kit in the first place (Blades, exhaust, parts of the frames I can see with the canopy on, tail boom, skids and canopy itself) and then twist the exhaust rubber so it faces upwards to stop drips on my floor.

your never going to keep a nitro squeaky clean, and its very easy to spend more time cleaning and maintaining a heli than it is flying the thing, so I dont bother

Since you're talking about it having been stored for some time, you'll want to get any dust off the moving parts though because otherwise the dust and oil will mix into something like a fine sandpaper grit.

I find that some dirt will hang onto things like the main shaft and tailrotor shaft and accumulate around the swashplate, tail slider and washout base. I try to keep these areas (and any other mechanical moving parts) as clean as possible and then I use a tiny bit of oil on the tail slider, washout base and swashplate. I have two kinds of oil made by Robbe in pen style applicators with needle tips, one is for metal only and the other is for plastic.

-Just to add, when I go out flying I usually do just a quick wipe down at the field and since the places I fly are not dusty or sandy this is usually all it takes. Then I'll do a bit more in the evening at home, usually in front of the TV. I combine a bit of regular inspection (for things like anything coming loose or excess wear) and do the fine cleaning at the same time. I do like them to look like new but I'm not OTT about it.

I don't clean mine. Sometimes I wipe off any surplus muck from the skids with kitchen roll.
