  • New Trex 700 DFC Nitro

    Hi all

Well its been a bit quiet on here about the new heli so i thought id start it off.Well i managed to get my grubby paws on one and its been a bit of a mixed bag.
First off,its now grown on me a lot but we had a few issues.First off my original choice of motor had to be changed as the TT 100 is too big for the base plate(changed to OS 105 HZR).The build was brilliant until the new motor went in and the clutch stack was tightened up,long, long story but it turned out to be the RHS side frame, the holes that been drilled off centre.I have gone with a v bar as my chioce of Fbl unit but the installation with the reduced width made for a bit of a fiddle but it now looks perfect. It also took me a bit of time to get my head around the new style of canopy but now i am loving it.

With the weather being as poop as it has been its only had a tank through it....but it flies the dogs as usual

So how has it gone with your 700

    Regards

PS a massive thanks to Jason Platts who sorted all issues from Ultimate Build and Fly

I just built one for a friend. A few of the holes in the frames were not drilled in the correct position but the clutch stack ones were ok.

The tail appears to be loads better than before but the rest of it is as I remember when I built my last Align 700N LE. Quality is no better or worse but I was expecting it to be better as this is what I heard. Im sure it will fly as awesome as they always have though and with that canopy, it looks awesome imo

what did you guys do with the elevator? On mine I dont seem to be able to get the elevator arm level and 0 pitch?

Ive put a longer ball link on it but its still out?

try replacing the DFC ball links with the standard fbl ball links on the pitch links instead of changing the A-arm link

My build has gone fine with the only issue being the one above, easily sorted though.
only managed a few flights so far because my engine decided to spit the piston ring on the maiden then my fan decided to come loose so hopefully ill get some good flights on it this weekend.
The slant gears make it sound great, like a totally different heli. One thing i did notice though was the clutch seems very late too engage on spool up, similar to the problem the 600le had when that came out. Anyone else noticed this with their's?

Considering align have made this heli with the big block engines in mind they've overlooked this. Look at the size of the cutout I've had to make just to get the 120's header in!!

But that looks like a Hatori pipe. A fine pipe I'm sure (and I have a couple), but I always end up fetling to get them to fit helis, which usually involves taking that lump of metal off the bottom of the header rather than a hole out of the carbon of the heli. Usually have to take a great lump out of the cooling shroud as well.

However, to be fair to Align, I bet you wouldn't have to make any adjustments at all if you fitted one of their own pipes.

The obvious question to me is - why do Hatori pipes always have that bulging lump on one side of the header anyway, and why is the header always handed?

But thats my point, theres only two big block engines on the market and only one pipe for the YS120 and thats the Hatori! Align dont make a pipe for the 105/120

                  hi guys
ive had mine built for the last few weeks just waitting to a nice day so can maiden it. Only problems ive had so far are stripping the threads in the main gear while taking out the bolts in the main gear to check that align had thread locked them(robbe replaced), and while attempting to start the engine for the first time the 2 grub screws that hold the starter stack decided to just spin (had to file 2 flats on shaft). apart from had the build has been fairly straight forward PS check your thread lock as well i found on some of the screws that the thread lock was sticking to the bolts but not the inside of hole so they would come undone fairly easily

Ive had this today, if you ask me something's not right here, either the grub screws are wrong or the locating holes aren't big enough. The grub screws don't seem to locate properly like they did on the older 700??

Boom supports have come loose but then they always do lol.
On a positive note my 2nd YS120 seems to be good! I thought the Rave had some go with a 120 in but this 700 ****es all over it lol!

yeah it seems the same problem as the older 700n. talking to ian contessa the best thing to do is file 2 flats on the shaft as when you take it out youll find that it has ground a slight step in it from trying to start it, and the locating holes are bearly still there as the original hole was about 2mm and the grub screws are about m3 so they dont locate properly anyway.
