The main change is the liner, it is now black, not the crumbly blue one!
If you set the gap between the liner and clutch correctly you shouldn't have a problem.

Yeah set the gap. I add a layer of normal printer paper and then the liner. If it's a bit tight a couple of blips on the throttle holding the head and it beds in.

back to black again lol I liked the blue 1s although the last batch I brought did crumble if I didn't trim em enough. my liners are always a bit too tight so much so engine struggles to idle I did find a quick uk clutch and ordered that but might grab an align as a spare next time I order bits thanks

It could be the installation technique? A new clutch will normally spin the blades slowly, nothing unusual about that, however if you have installed the liner so it has high points then this can grab and stall the engine. When the highpoints collapse this instant freewheeling of the clutch can cause a clutch to snap.

One piece of paper, then dry fit the clutch, it normally seems impossible to get it in without cutting but 90% of the time you just need brute force and patience to get it snug. Then glue it in. Now wrap two separate (I use separate to be as close as possible to no high points) pieces of electrical tape around a spare clutch so they don't overlap and there is no gap between each piece. Now push it in and leave overnight for the perfect clearance. This sounds so much more complicated than it is

I 90% fly nitro, mostly 700s never had an align clutch break, never had an align liner that did not benefit from padding - this is why the lynx heavy duty liner exists (or existed) as it is thicker than the align one - but of course its no longer available.

Quick caviat - not used the new black liner yet still using my spares of blue - if its thicker it may not benefit from padding.

Whatever you choose good luck chap.

thanks for the info I use that exact procedure on my 600 but used card but on the 700 no shimming with blue liner. but I must ask with your way described above I assume u then pull apart then epoxy? or are you using something else and glueing in situe cheers terry

Yeah I use 5min epoxy left over night. I find it's strong but easy to remove with simple nail polish remover - acetate. This saves you from removing it mechanically and smoothing the inside of the bell.
