  • wear and tear on your machines

    Hello all

I fly 2 700n dfc's, one thing I've noticed with these is that the amount of parts I go through and keeping them
in the air. I'm no 3d god by any means and fly mild 3d, I fly every weekend once a week, each machine will get half a gallon
through it. I generally wont fly more than 3-4 weekends without noticing play / vibe in new parts ball links / dampeners etc
and am always replacing new parts.

I don't know if its just because of the high vibe from these machines or what but doesn't anyone else experience
    constant replacement parts?

    Hey Tom

I also fly a lot of flights with my 700n. I do tend to find that I go through ball links and the alloy balls themselves quicker than with electric models which I think is mostly down to the nitro fuel and oil that nitro produces. the align alloy balls are not as hard wearing as they are with other manufactures and just replace individually with a new link when needed. other than just my links I change my bearings when they get rough also I use bearings from rcbearings. co.uk which last longer than the align ones. I also ensure that I re-grease the thrust bearings every 50 flights in the tail an the head and replace all fuel tubing at the 50flight mark too! other than that I don't need to replace any other parts unless I crash and break any. what parts exactly are your replacing?

    cheers Andy

Same with the ballinks def replace them often. I also used to do the Align dampers then switched to KBDD lime greens and have been using those for about 200 flights and still going strong

Nothing but but ball links, 1 main belt and 1 set of dampers in over 400 flights on my Protos.

My Fb 700N is 6 years old and my fbl 700n is 4 years old both with the same ball links and still feel like they did when they were new.
I do only use 1 case of fuel a year ( between 4 nitro helis)

There are so many factors to wear and tear though. Dust, humidity, flying style, the model you fly etc etc.

I have a 600e & 600n, imo the fuel contaminates parts of the heli much quicker than the 600e.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

Just had to change a main shaft as it looks like it may have had a small knock and bent it ever so slightly.
the one i pulled out has 2 alan bolts that screw in from both sides. The new shafts that have been sent no longer
have screw threads into it. Ive been told the main shaft now takes 2 "jesus bolts" can anyone confirm this?

that sounds wierd usually have 2 bolts uptop then nut and bolt underneath as for wear bearings in clucch, tail bearings (always buy quality hear) ball joints as said above kbdd limegreen dampers if you can find any last forever or untill heli turn off at full throttle ith bigblock upsidedown :P and clutches them self as why im on here
