  • What should I change?

Going to build a new Align 700N DFC and get back into nitro.

Spec will be OS105, Hatori, V-bar Silverline, 2xDSMX sats, MKS HV servos, 2S lipo. I've got a KDE SXT head on my 700 which I really like so will probably add that later.

What should I change or upgrade from the start? ideas might be tail blades, tail hub, clutch, gears, canopy fasteners, header tank, clunk….. I'm looking for functional items rather than bling.

        I have one of these.

You need the upgraded tail output shaft (Not sure if its included as default now?) its the one with out the step down halfway through
I use rail blades rather than aligns as they are better balanced and help with item #1 but the newer align blades may have addressed that
I use a fuel magnet, I have taken my header tank off as its not needed.
Clutch wise i found I needed a quick UK clutch from the start, and have not had to touch it since.
Canopy fasters I use tenax tonneau cover fastenings, they go onto the stock align canopy posts but stop the annoying "rub through" you get from vibrations with the standard rubber gromets!

The 700N DFC is great heli, I had a 700N too which was also pretty sorted from the outset. The quality of the component parts on the DFC goes beyond what is needed for outstanding flight performance, but stops short of being over engineered and overly expensive. The balance of performance, price, parts availability, manufacturer support and pride of ownership are bang-on for me, personally.

Anyway back OT - there really isn't much that needs doing from the start. The latest kits include the v2 tail hub and grips. I think the latest black gears are also now included, not that they are needed. I did once have a clutch failure on my 700N and have always used an aftermarket clutch since then. Either Quick UK or Lynx have proved to be good. Align also have an optional frame strengthener as apparently the frame can crack in a crash. If you go for this then it should be fitted at the beginning of the build rather than afterwards, because of the way it is installed. Other parts I would recommend which are not specific to the DFC include Quick UK thumb screw canopy fasteners, a header tank and a Gryphon mini booster on top of the elevator servo.

          Hope this helps
