    DFC Head dampers VS head sleeve

    Guys,

    I noticed my head seemed to be getting a bit loose, so I thought I'd replace the dampers and links (Maybe 200 flights since new now)

    Looking at it though the dampers actually look fairly ok, but the sleeve in the middle of the head is very elongated / worn.

    Is it supposed to look like this? I should imagine yes if your talking a normal head. but on something that is supposed to have 0 damping, Id say no.

    If so, how do i get it out to replace it? Ive tried pushing it and it wont budge!?

      I always replace the dampeners and the sleeve (should be perfectly round) every time on my 550e (haven't flown my 700e enough yet to require it, but for sure I will replace the sleeve and dampeners).

        Is there a sleeve in there ? Looks like the hub is worn or maybe I should get glasses

          The dark oval shaped bit in the second pic is the sleeve (at least on my 550e it is)

            Top pic is with the damper, one below is without. Looks to me like it's made of plastic and is worn not round - can't work out how to get it out though?!

              Mine just fall out , they only 1.5mm thick tops I recon , can't thing why yours is stuck ?

              edit , does the 700 actually have a separate sleeve like the smaller Rex's ?

                Ahah, i got them out!

                They only come out from the inside out, so I had to carefully put a screwdriver in and tap them out from the inside outwards.

                Question is now, are they supposed to be round or elongated?! They do kind of look directional (They have locating parts on the back so they can only slot in at a certain angle) but I cant think for the life of me why theyd want a floating spindle with solid dampers...

                  think theyre meant to be like that. when the dfc heads first came out they didn't have pom dampeners so had some dampening properties and when they brought out the pom's they must have forgot the sleeve . Although it probably doesn't matter that its oval as the pom's don't allow any movement anyway

                    Hi I remember them being oval from top to bottom to allow movement up and down only.
