tail pitch rod

After putting the 700 in after a main blade holder link came off , I thought I would change to a DFC head , and carbon tail blade rod . Tried to fit tail rod and because its not the DFC model the rod is to long. Has anybody managed to shorten it , and if so how did you g3t the end off.

Mine is 735 from inside collar to inside collar. If yours is longer I reckon warm one end up to soften the epoxy and pull it off, cut to length and re-epoxy the collar back on. Roughen up the carbon and clean the inside with a IPA before a bit of 2 part 5 min epoxy finishes the job.
