  • 700N DFC Canopy nuts

    Guys,

What do you do? I seem to go through as many canopy nuts as I do underpants. after about 20 flights, they are ruined; And I only take the canopy off to charge the flight pack!!

The canopy either cuts through them (After the canopy protectors come unstuck) or they just straight up pop out of the holes, despite being cynoed in.

Also, the two lower front posts always seem to strip their threads over time as the stud only protrudes about 2mm out of the heli. Is there a longer studding I Can use for this that anyone knows of?

Ditto, I have the same problem.

I use some metal screw on nuts which house a rubber ring on the lower 2, but I still use the original nuts on the upper 2 as the metal screw on nuts are too big to take the fasteners. I only therefore end up ruining the two upper nuts and the 2 metal lower ones are robust.

Ideally we need some magnetic clips, but I gather they are available for the 700E, but not the 700N.

Those look really good, what diameter do the canopy support balls need to be and which clamps do you use? Looked on the site and there's a few versions.

I hate my 700n mounts, especially the one at the exhaust!

I'm in the process of machining my own.

Using CA is part of the problem. If any gets onto the rubber it will make it brittle and it doesn't support the insert properly so the gel coat cracks.

I used epoxy to hold the insert in and made a fillet of epoxy on the inside of the canopy.

I used those tenax mounts on my Goblin 700 with Quick UK ball links. I think they are the Logo 700 sized ball links, and I had to file them down ever so slightly to get them on (I put the ball link in a drill and then ran the drill up with a file on the ball link for a few seconds, was really easy)

I didnt think about using them for my 700 but Sev is right, they do fit 550+ standard align canopy posts, so I might pick some up for my 700n.

                    UK Stockist here

                    Tenax Female Fabric

More here, slightly more expensive as you have to order the backs separately.

Tenax Fasteners - Fixings from Holden Vintage & Classic

Or this, which ive found to be the cheapest:

Order 1x TENAX FASTNERS BUTTON TONNEAU COVER...........recorded delivery | eBay
and also 1x TENAX FASTNERS BUTTON LOCK NUT TONNEAU COVER...........recorded delivery | eBay

                    Per canopy post.

Ive just ordered 4 of the above and also 10x M3x20mm studs for the front canopy posts (Standard is M3x15mm so 20mm should give a little extra threads in the posts)

M3/4/5/6mm A2 Stainless Steel Hex Socket Cup Point Grub Screws | eBay

I'll let you know how I get on in this thread.

Got these bits, sorted it - works a good'un! had to put the tenax nuts backwards on the back of the canopy so they fixed up nice and tight, but now it all fits really nice.
