  • Coverting a 600N to FBL Head Question first FBL Questions later :)

Right then with all the threads of FBL units ranging from V Bars and Clones, to the latest offerings GPro and Spartans units. I'm suitably confused lol

I need some guidance on converting my old 600n

So I thought before I get a fbl unit, I also need a new head, so what recommendations do you have on the head front and do I need a new swashplate, links and main shaft

    Thanks

I converted my 600N last year I went for the compass head and vortex, I fly it more than any other as it is a great to fly now. bought the head from RC711 as they were the cheapest for it and used the shorter main shaft as went for the standard compass head not the one with the longer rods.

The 550 pro head fits and along with the fbl main shaft you lose 20mm in height. The 600 comes alive with this setup, pick your fbl unit fit and fly.

Be careful with the green swash from early machines, the links will pop off the inner swash and the short balls you need for the resolution

i am not sure this is fully accelerate, i have been using the green swash on my early 600e with both outrage and align FBL upgrade that first came out the silver ones.
as far as i know the inner swash is the same on old and new swash the outer OD is bigger in shape but the overall OD including the balls is the same.
i have +-13 degree pitch on blades and 8 degrees on the cyclic. the helis done nearly every trick in the book not all by me but links haven't popped off in two years of use.

what Dave is saying does happen but it i am not sure its purely swash related, on this heli the quick UK swash does exactly this pops link on the same settings.
test on the bench under all full throws and punching the pitch and rolling the cyclics in a round pattern, my view is it will be fine.

when i did have the 600N the same align head was also on it with the green swash mine was the really old belt

Strange, with the 700 ball links from swash to blade grips mine would rub and push the links off the balls, same on a club mates. Mine was the sport with the original align Fbl head. I swapped to the pro swash and it was fine

I stuck the rjx head on my 600N and apart from bringing in the balls on the cranks using futaba star arms it works fine with beastx. fastlad used to stock all the rjx fbl head stuff but last i checked their stocks looked like they were running them down. HK stock them though.

I had the same problem with the green swash not having enough clearance

Here is a thread on my upgrade which might help you http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/align-...-600n-fbl.html

Yep +1 done exactly the same and use the normal 600 size balls.
