  • 600 size cyclic servos

Hi all im after some pointers on cylic servos for a FBL trex 600n. I know there are many purpose built servos out there for helis but they are all very pricey and i dont want to spend more than £70 for all three realy but i do want plenty of power as im geting better with my 3d and i love pumping it up and down.

I race 1/8 buggy and have done for a while and any of you that have done this know the servos get a right bashing. any way just from them being recomended a while back i bought some of these Alturn USA High Performance Race Servo (High Speed) AAS752MGo keep as spares for my savox . these ones are acutulay a different model as i went for torque rather than speed. I have ran them for ages now in a truggy and am amazed at the durabilty and stenth they have.

basicaly im asking are the linked model or a suitable spec to run a FBL head. I know these thing are built to with stand the beating a 1/8 buggy offers so should take this easy. all i need to know is will the fact that its not a corless motor work with the demands on the fbl unit

I'd look around for a set of 610's, second hand you should get close to £70 for 3. A great servo for the price.

Looking at just the spec for torque and speed one could assume that they would comfortably fly a T-Rex 600N.

Unfortunately what never seems to be supplied in any of the specs I have looked at is the speed with which a servo starts to move and the speed with which it can stop once it has reached the required position. The other thing that is important is repeatability. I.E. How well does the servo return to its centre position.

I have to buy my servos on the basis of the findings from pilots that have tried them and found them to work well. In this respect the Align DS610 fits that requirement.

Not really answering my question although i appreciate the response there £50+ new which is double my budget. I don't mind buying most stuff used but servos are probably the most important bit and why would most people sell a perfectly good set of servos they are going to get half the original value for unless there misbehaving or pat there best.

from what i have seen on them they are very good quality from a new company thats not realy heard of they have already increased over 20% in price over the last year due to them becoming more popular in the 1/8 sceane. I do know that there specs are not up to scratch of the savox made align servos but they are well made and sturdy. the 18k servos on my truggy i can put my foot on it on the grass and the wheel will still go from lock to lock with a problem

Or as in most cases on her they are just surplus to requirements !

I've bought loads of servos on here and not a single duff one

So you're putting a 600n in the air, probably best part of £500 airframe including engine and you want to put untested (in a heli, flybarless at that) car servos on it. Totally up to you, keep us posted on how it goes.

99% of sellers on the forum, I would say are honest people. they normally have to much stuff surplus to requirements, or maybe upgrading for current needs. or maybe tryin out the next best thing.
the oter thing is spares are widely available and servo horn pattern same as futaba.

I used to run 1/8th nitro as well and agree the steering servo takes a bashing but has a servo saver normally.

The servos linked i suppose will work OK but they might not be anything like as good as say a set of Align 610s in dealing with the totally different operating enviroment to a buggy or truggy that FBL cyclic operations require,ie fast small adjustments, good holding power, working well as a set of 3.

They may be worth a try but i think the only recommendation you will get on here is to at least go for something thats proven to work OK for the task.

At the risk of annoying you, im going to say another 1+ to a set of 610's second hand.

I have had one set from new, and bought another set second hand on here and cannot tell the difference in use.

They are incredibly cheap for how good they are.

I need another set as it happens.... so perhaps I should not recommend competition on the second hand market

A set of used 610's or futaba bls451's will serve you well. Bought loads of new and used stuff in the past and 99% of things bought from here are just as good as new. I honestly dont think you can buy three good servos brand new for £70.. if you can then they must be cheap ones and hence probably no use for fbl.
The servos in a flybarless heli have to be upto a good spec for it to work right.
