  • Turnigy BEC on a 600E

    I'm building up a cheapish 600E. I am using a Turnigy 8A BEC along with a Turnigy 100A Superbrain ESC. It's running 6S

    Couple of questions I have
    1. Is it absolutely necessary to retain the ferrite rings that come fitted to the output lead from the BEC?
    2. Why would the output lead on the BEC terminate in a Y lead format with two plugs at the end? Surely I only need one?
    3. Why are there 2 cables coming from the Superbrain (other than the heavy battery leads)? There is a long one and a short one? I am assuming the long one goes to the receiver (AR7200BX), what do I do with the other?

    Thanks

    1) ferrite ring has been fitted for a reason, so better to leave I believe for stopping interference.
    2) two supply better than one, also proberly needs to draw the 8amps
3)long need is normally to throttle, short lead normally for programming.

do these quality item you bought have no instruction with them?

      LOL Gixerman.

These "quality items" either have no instructions (the ESC cam s/hand with the part built heli - another story). The BEC came with chinglish instructions that obviously assumed all I needed to know was what the LED lights meant!

TBF both items have quite good reviews according to what I have read - unless anyone out there know different.

I have one of these BECs on my 600ESP. It is working just fine BTW.

I would leave the ring in place. It is a cheap BEC and so interference is more likely so the ferrite ring will help cut that down.

There are two outputs as there might be two power sources needed. I am going to use the second one on a telemetry module and that will mean I don't have to take the power for that from the receiver. Much neater.

I have a 2S LiFe battery plugged into it. very happy so far :-)

Good idea about the scond power plug. I'm also planning on fitting a TM1000 telemetry unit as well so I'll use that supply to power that.
