  • TRex 500 torque tube conversion.

    I want to convert my belt drive 500 to torque tube. Is it cheapest to just buy this conversion set:

    H50092 Trex 500 Torque Tube Drive Assembly

    Or can I use some of my existing parts (e.g. I have the metal tail case but don't know if it's compatible with a torque tube drive) thus making it cheaper?

    Incidentally, if there's anyone out there who wants to convert from torque tube to belt then let me know and maybe we can swap the relevant parts.

    AFAIK.. its different.. the Boom case and tail case is different in design to each other. It is going to be the cheapest way buying it as you linked, as doing it seperately and excluding the boom it comes to £56.24!

      Ok, guess I'll buy the set. Seeing as you have the new 500EFL, is there anything much improved in the torque tube parts? I know the tail case is a bit different but is it of any significant benefit? Would any of the new parts fit? I guess you could probably use the tail case but not the boom case?

        Heres my thread recently http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/t-rex-...0-efl-pro.html and as mentioned theres only a few things that are kept the same (boom, tt, skid pipe, feathering shaft) all the rest is new. Because the boom is the same the tail unit will fit but it isnt listed as yet, as it only hit the the shelf last week

          I converted my belt driven tail HK500 just using the converison kit. I bought it from Fast Lads. I had thought about buying the bits seperately, but I seem to remember that the cost was more for the seperate bits than the kit. Although I would suggest buying an extra twin pack of gears as they break very easily.
