Why is my tail still wagging ????

OK
I crashed the trex 500 and have now rebuild it.
the tail was really wagging and I moved the ball on the rudder servo arm to the nearest hole to the centre.
it is still wagging but less.
I changed the giro settings in head hold mode between 0 and 100 and I cannot get rid of the wag.
tail slider movement is super smooth, no binding.
changes in this build. New dfc head in stead of the efl head and kbdd tail blade in stead of the aligh ones.
can it be the tail blades?

Have your tried the original tail blades? Or some different ones?

Not. Yet. Got broken in the crash.
might but a pair to rule it out, or hopefully fix

when you crashed did you have to re-build the tail.

Did you setup the tail so that it holds in non heading hold before switching to heading hold, mind you'll have to set it up flighting into the wind and adjust the tail rob lenght till it holds, then switch to heading hold

Very carefully check the plastic 90 degree arm that links the servo push rod to the tail slider assembly. Have seen a couple of original ones that have a crack in them by the mounting hole (one was brand new and had not been fitted!!) which opens up when the servo tries to move and causes all sorts of weird tail problems. If it is broken it might be worth considering upgrading to the much better CNC 'twin drive' version if you have not done so already.

no cracks in the servo arm.
I put aligh tail blades on.
pretty well set up in rate mode.
still wagging, not ahuge wag but annoying

Are you sure your transmitter is actually adjusting the gyro gain?
You say "I changed the giro settings in head hold mode between 0 and 100" - when set to 0% there should be no gyro function, so the heli should be a pig to fly - did you find that?
Wiggle the tail on the ground and watch the tail blades follow the wiggle, then set gain to zero - the blades should stop responding to the wiggle - if not, your TX is not adjusting the gain.

Yes
on low gain, massive left right movement, on very high gail, very short very fast left right.
i just cannot get the tail to be solid.
at 50% flies fine, just still a bit of wag.
when pumping pitch hard up down, the tail holds fine, does not blow out at all, just that wagggggg

More changes. Still wagging. I want to now try a different servo.
Any recommendations.
Needs to be the same size as the one for the 500 pro efl. I think it's a align ds520.

Have you double checked your servo frequency on the flight controller?

On my beastx I accidentally changed the servo frequency when I was trying to change it to sport mode and it made it nod a little bit.

Will check tomorrow. I also ordered a mks mini tail servo as the ds520 has had 3 crashes. New gears of course.

My wag is now gone.
I spoke to someone at the club who had a similar problem and did the following which worked for me
I bought a complete tail section , torque tube unit meaning the housing at the back, gears tail pitch slider etc. H50193
got it for £45 on ebay, someone stripped a new 500 and sold the parts.
I fitted it and the wag was gone!
not saying it will cure yours, but it did work for me.

Oh, by the way, I still have the original servo and have not fitted the MKS as it did not turn up. So a nice £50 saving for me.
