+1 on replacing the Align screws. The ones that come with the kit are notoriously soft and strip way too easily.

Removing those stubborn screws that won't come out could present a problem.

A Dremel and heat gun will soften the Loctite if you finally get to them.

Dremel.. Well worth the money in this hobby.

              Much good advice above.

Align screws are not too bad but it is worth replacing them with better quality. Some applications require high tensile screws, e.g. jesus bolts, feathering shaft bolts etc.. For most frame screws I use stainless steel. I usually get them from RC Screws but I did get a set of the stainless ones to which you refer and they are pretty good.

I have bought a couple of plastic boxes with small compartments in to keep various screws. In my opinion you can't have too many. I regularly buy M3, M2, etc. washers as well.

I found out, after buying cheaply and regretting it, that it is essential to use good quality hex drivers. (Not quite as important for nut drivers but it still pays to get good quality).

I have PB Swisstools, Hudy and Bondhus. They are of superb quality and a joy to use. There are other makes which are good but I am not familiar with them. It may seem jolly expensive to pay the best part of £10 on one tool but I can assure you that it will be worth it in the long run.

To just post that Align screws are poor or soft can only be said if you know what grade they are with relation to another screw. It could well be that Align supply 6.9 as opposed to 12.9 screws. In either case the torque setting for M2 screws is pretty low and I bet most people are over-tightening them.

To be honest, my knowledge of screws doesn't go that far. I will say that I use Align's own drivers, and I've had to be incredibly careful with every Align kit I've owned as the screws always felt that they could strip in the screwhead very easily if tightened too much.

My Goblin and Blade kit helis are noticably different in the screws they provide. I can't give details, but I can say they feel a LOT more sturdy and I've had zero problems with stripped screws.

I buy some bolts from modelfixings.co.uk and everytime I remove a bolt that doesn' t feel right I replace it with a new one. As others say using quality hex drivers (not allen keys) is key as well - the Align hexdrivers are good

steer away from SS screws unless they are top quality as cheap stainless is very soft and anything you lock tight will never come out again. 1+ eds drivers they are VERY GOOD iv never rounded one and i just them on both my helicopter and 1/8 buggys and around the house. huddy are also very good but more expensive and no better.

EDS driver bits EDS HEX DRIVER SET 1.5 2.0 2.5 & 3.0 X 120MM - 4 PIECES 26.59 but worth every penny you will very unlikely ever need and more and if you did due to miss use replacement bits are £3

screws - i bought these seem good quality iv used quite a few and not had a prob. same thing tho if you use good tools you shouldn't have an issue. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/450-helico...item1e79637d3e

hope this helps . If you have a lot of rounded screws i would also check that none of the theads have been stripped from the holes as this is a big problem.

Tip. screws that are lock tightened do not need to be as tight as those with out as the lock tight stops it coming lose all you need to provide is enough torque to join the two items.

I have a set of the MIP drivers and they are superb. Bit of an overkill for the large sizes but in the small sizes they are essential.

I find the eds very easy to grip due to the surface of the handle and a very cool feature i think is if you look at the handle there are silver rings around them that correspond to the size of the bit ie 1 1/2 rings 2 rings 2.5 rings and so on it makes them very easy to pick when you have your hands full.

Well I thought I'd return to the topic to let you guys know how my feelings have changed.

Shortly after creating the thread I received a PM from member "Bikerflier" offering his support whether it be remote or in person.

Following the PM, I realised that Bikerflier was actually a member of an RC Aero club that I had contacted only a few days ago to ask about membership.

So this weekend he has spent 2 full days of his own time to get my Heli setup and in the air and, it's great! I've really enjoyed the whole process and could not have done it without his help.

I actually managed to get 4 ~5 minute flights under my belt today in a good-deal of wind at times, and am really proud of what I've achieved so far.

Can't wait to get even more stuck into the hobby and hopefully repay Bikerflier in the future.

                                Cheers!
