The build looks great. And I think I would have to have matching canopies if I was to have 2 heli's (maybe I am a little OCD like that)

My 250 DFC Pics
I get a pretty poor result when range checking mine, I use an AR6100e receiver in as I only have a DX6i. I have an aerial poking out each side of the heli and don't have problems when flying (May have just cursed myself)
I upgraded from FB to DFC/3GX and it made a huge difference much nicer to fly, a lot more stable and tolerant to the wind, was flying yesterday in 20mph+ winds. Got bounced around but stayed controlled and lots of fun. I would spend the money on the upgrade again.
I went for a fluorescent orange theme for mine to help with visibility, orange tail fins and blades and the Align orange and purple canopy.

I like that, how do you find the orange tail, does it help visibility?
as dusk starts coming later and later I am hoping to get some flying in at the field I walk my dogs in, if no one is about. flying a heli that small in failing light is asking for trouble, so if it makes a difference I'll go the same route I think...
Cheers
Steve

I find the orange stands out really well, good contrast against blue/grey skies and green/brown fields. Have fluorescent yellow on my 500 and it also stands out but not as good as the orange. Well worth it in my opinion.

Just coming back to this thread after many months as I'm doing a small repair job and need some info (I'll start a new thread for that!)
Some nice comments guys - thanks. I'm hoping to actually get some flying time in soon now I've managed to get to a comfortable flying level with my 450

So, I've got this apart at the moment replacing the main gear and sorting an issue with the servo horns. I've never been happy with the wiring or even considered the build finished (you know how it is when you put it together well enough "just to test it"!!!), so figured I'd start to tidy it up a bit.
I bought some braid last year but when it turned up I just looked at it and thought "that'll never be big enough!", then shelved it for, hmm, 8 months? Well, on further inspection tonight I feel rather dumb as I now know how braiding works. You push it together and it get's wider. Feed your wiring through and then let it go - DOH!! Why didn't I think of that
So, here we are, a pic of one side's wiring tidied up. The two sat's. The other side will be a bit more of a sod since I'll have to get the 3GX out to remove all the servo leads, etc., etc., but where there's a will there's a way. I'm determined to have this back in the air in the next few days - well, probably week or two since I'm away for some of next week...
Sorry for the bad phone pic. Oh, and in this pic, the lower sat looks a bit wonky - that's because I've not removed the backing from the foam pad yet. I won't do that until I've completely finished or it will only get knocked off again!

Well, finished off the wiring today, and delayed going up the field to sort out the final few bits. End result was an awesome couple of flights. I'm only sport flying at the moment, no inverted or anything but man this thing is a lot of fun. The first flight the wind was a bit gusty for it so I just used the flight to get a feel for the little bird again having not flown it since last September. By 7pm the wind had gone completely so I was tearing up the sky. Really, really enjoyed it. Glad I pushed myself to get it finished now. Just seems ridiculously more snappy and responsive than my FB 450 which feels like it's lolloping about the sky
So, final few piccies I guess. Unless someone get's any of it in flight at any point.

oh dear" that is expensive. which is why i like the yellow lightening strike canopy much easier to see the heli orientation.Originally posted by MartinW View PostOooo, bad thread to resurrect!!
