So guys, first real post so please be patient. I have an original 250 combo that i bought 2nd hand when they first came out (ages ago), well long story short the thing was knackered, no damage but everything was worn out. I ploughed in a stack of spares which tightened up every thing but couldn't get rid of a dreadful tail wag, this was before the various fixes became apparent. Anyway the hell's went in the loft with the onslaught of children to be revived a couple of weeks ago some years they gathered dust, anyway with a bit google i fixed the tail (seems obvious now) but sadly snapped off a ball off the swash so here's the dilemma, do i
purchase a new swash and keep the hell as design,
buy a new flybarless head (and witchcraft box probably kbar)
it seems the parts are seriously expensive compared to a new airframe is there any other options

    Thanks Michael

I think by the time you've bought a flybarless head, swash etc. and FBL unit, you'll have sunk more money into it than it's worth. I would keep it flybarred and fly it for what it is - then save your money for something better/newer.

I do like my 250, it's an older SE airframe, with a DFC swash and head, and a Vortex VX1e FBL. It did take a ton of work to get it flying well, but it's a great model. As Tom says though, for the money you spend you could pick up a BNF Blade 230S which is probably a better all around model.

If you're happy with a flybar model though I've a ton of Trex 250 flybar parts I could send you. No idea how much use they are as I've scavenged a few bearings from them, but I'm pretty sure I have a couple of flybar 250 swashes at least.

Hi thanks for the replays, I seem to be loosing posts. In short I was happy with the model and I have quite a lot of spares (although apparently not everything) I do like the mechanical simplicity of fbl though. Myxiplx what would you be looking for? That's a definite possibility thanks

The flybar stuff you can have for free fella, I've never set up a flybar model, and a Trex 250 is not going to be my first attempt lol, so none of it is any use to me. Just pm me your address.

My flybarred Trex 250 spent many months on the shelf as it always seemed to have its own ideas to what I wanted it to do which made it very hard and unrewarding to fly. After flying an MCP-x and a 130x I decided to convert it to a flybarless using a genuine Align DFC head (circa £40.00), original swash and servo's and a yellow K bar from Banggood (£20.00) - result I now own a very a well behaved Trex 250 that goes where I want it to and with another minutes flight time without over stressing the batteries.
For £60.00 it was well worth the effort and it is now a great helicopter that instead of being a shelf queen now lives in the boot of the car and that gets flown whenever I get the chance.

That's the alternative how are the k bars? Quite interested are they intuitive to setup?
