  • tail let go...

4 mins into my second lipo today on the 450 I got a shake on the tail exiting a tick tock.
I immediately levelled up. a few seconds later I got a sudden 90 degree tail swing left, followed by another as I brought it closer to put down. Before I got it down it pyro'd and I dumped it in the long grass.
Damage - feathering and main spindle. sheered bottom jesus bolt. A few ball links. Otherwise OK.
Belt is definitely OK and all the belt drives are tight on the shaft.
I can't figure what went wrong. Its possible the jesus bolt broke in flight as I can't figure why the shaft has come right out upwards when I landed heavy right side up!
I was just thinking how nailed the 401/FS61BB are - the 560 on my rappy tends to drift a little.

Goog job This didn't happen when I was hovering at 2 ft in front of the club sec so he could take a photo!

After that I had to rag the rappy and did my first pyro flips off sim. I'm starting nose in but tending to pause inverted nose in so I am doing a series of half pyro flips so I can avoid it getting away from me.

...the 560 on my rappy tends to drift a little...

Just done an afternoon of tests on the rappy and had a 401 / 9254 combo drift. How bad was yours? I reckon mine would do a piro in a minute or maybe two. It's better in normal How was yours?

Probably about the same. Mine is software version 2 though so I should send it for an upgrade.
You get a fresh zero if you switch off and on, I have started to switch on,let it warm up and then switch off and on again before I start the motor. this seems to reduce the drift.
I might stick the 401 on the rappy and send the 560 for an upgrade this week.
The tail drift makes it hard to work out the phase error on the head - it confuses the issue.

        Yes, I guess it would!

I have a problem with phasing too and was told to add two mixes - Aileron to throttle and Elevator to throttle. Add 10 to 15 % (of throttle) on each.

Theis elev and aileorn to throttle is surely cyclic throttle mixing. have that too - look for it an raptortechnique where it is well explained.
To correct the phase error you would have elevator to aileron, and aileron to elevator. I only have three pmixes (7CAp) and I used two for cyclic throttle mixing.

Make sure your gyro is not starting to come loose.

Sounds like the symptoms of a dying tail servo to me.

They normally give an intermittent yaw as a warning sign.
