450 v2 Maingear

Hello all,
My Trex450SE (v1) needs a new main gear so I am wondering which additional parts are required to fit the new dark blue maingear. Its it just out with the old and in with the new or do I need to replace the tail drive gears (light blue) as well?

A good alternative is to buy from 'Blink trading' on Ebay. I've used their gears and they are very good quality and cheaper than Align. They have the same design, seperate hub and gear, and are 'round' unlike some of the Align ones. Also seem less prone to strip than Aligns.
I have had one problem ordering from them (missing parts, no response to emails) but got it sorted in the end and have used them since without any probs. Their fibre glass canopies are very good value also.

Are these a necessary upgrade to the V1 or is it a case of upgrade when the original gets damaged?

I'm only considering it because I have run out of the old type, the bearing mounting is much nicer so it seems worth it.

Does anyone know why Align sell a white one in the new style? more/less teeth maybe?

Yes in stock, the old gear is now no longer made so all will have to switch to the newer design eventually.
I am not sure why they make it in two different colours.
