  • Should I upgrade?

After following all the threads on 600N- decided I had to have one!!( hopefully
Fri with royal mail's help )-anyways my main query is should I just build it as standard with plastic fan supplied?? -I don't intend to fit a guv as it would be wasted on me-only do sport flying- getting the G10 version- is it true some of the parts are shared by the 600E??- will be running OS 50 Hyper and 611/9256- could I get away with 3152's for the other functions? - thought I could use my DX7 servos' but hav'nt heard one good comment about em so far - Anyone know if there will be a 600N for Phoenix?

Output shafts have been known to shear. Also if you read the Spektrum guidelines it states that the DS821 is suitable for up 30 size helis.

I had 2 output shafts break. One on the throttle and one during the installation. Niether had any load put on them. There also are many people that have successfully used them, so you pays your money you take your choice.

Once thing to bear in mind is when I phoned Helgar Distribution re my problems, they denied there was any issue, but then gave me a refund of £80 on the servos no questions asked.........

There are no parts you really need to upgrade, the only problem with the stock fan is that is does warp and loose the odd magnet so if you are not using a gov then no problem. I would not use the stock clunk line either - I bought some proper stuff from Skyline to replace mine with, I can send you a clunk length if you want some.

Hmmmm, thats a worry !! Throttle servo !! When you say during installation in what way? Maybe that is a good test if you remember what you were doing. I read that this problem was cuased by people had used loc-tite on the screws but that may not be true now !!

I've read about people having issues with Spektrum DS821 servos, however I know of three people (myself included) who have no issues using them as throttle servos... Apparently, the output shaft is weak.

The 600n kit will be fine out of the box if you're not installing a governor - the plastic fan is crap and warps, throwing magnets, but this won't affect you too much - just make sure your fan doesn't scrape on the fan shroud after installing it.

The clutch liner is stupidly thin too, so it could be an idea to buy a thinker clutch liner and fit that from the start, I know of several clutches that have blown without much effort and I put it down to the huge gap (easily 1mm) the clutch has to fill to bite on the liner.
You may be suprised to learn that the Vibe 90 clutch liner is probably the cheapest replacement option (yes, cheaper than the Align offering of 2 in a bag - buy 2 Vibe 90 ones for less ) - you will need to trim it flush with the clutch bell (height) but thats an easy job. It's a much better quality liner, thicker too.

            Cheers,
            Rob

I have used DS 811 on throttle as I have used on my raptors, 3 821's on the swash of the 600n. I have 3 DS 589's in stock, these are like/the same as 821's, do they have the same question mark hanging over them? Anyone know a problem using them?
