  • JG012 Audible LiPo Voltage Guard

    Hi

I have read a few posts concenring lipo battery guards and protecting them against under voltage.

Having just lost a battery that came with my 450 (it was old and had no balance lead), i thought i might want to look after the new ones i have just bought!

Can anyone recomend a particular model please?

The JG012 seems to crop up a lot - any thoughts?

I have looked at the instructions for the above, and being new to modeling (having purcahsed my 450se 2nd hand and built) i am not sure what they mean by connecting it across the speed controller and not the battery!

The speed controler is connected to the battery! Surley they do not mean the output side of the speed contoler to the motor, do they?

I also have a voltage regulator accross the battery, i am pretty sure it will not interfer.

    Be greatful for some comments.

    Many thanks.

    John

Fly with a timer, start at a conservative figure, and measure what you put back into the battery, should not exceed 80% of capacity. slowly increase your flight times till find a time that gives you that figure.

Custom Idea make a LiPo saver unit called HR Poly X. It is adjustable by 0.1 volt intervals by the user. At a 0.2 volt per cell threshold above the set point the alarm starts to beep (loudly and the red light flashes) as it approaches the set point the beeping/flashing gets louder/faster until it becomes constant at the set point. I use it on 3S batteries and i think it also works on 4S. They are about £15 including UK postage.

They're saying put it on the ESC side of the deans connectors, just in case someone decides to solder it directly to the battery
But yes, keep it battery side of the ESC cabling, not motor side!
