Now on my 450 V2 i use the Spektrum 6100 Rx and its perfect as are my 600`s and nitro birds
I built up my Trex 450 SE V2 a few weeks ago. I'm using a Futaba R168DP reciever with a 7CP transmitter. The receiver is a little bit big but does fit. I'm using a Castle Creation Phoenix 45 ESC with a Medusa 5V BEC. I've used the supplied Align battery and a flight power 3s1p 2170mAh pack. I've put a ferrite ring on the lead from the BEC and one on the lead from the ESC.
So far I've only hovered the helicopter in the garden but it's proved to be as smooth as silk. As stable as my Swift and not a glitch from it.
I made my own training gear and it's proved very successful. It uses 5mm carbon fibre rods with ping pong balls on the end. Instead of just crossing the rods they fit into a central hub which gives them a downward angle of about 15 degrees. If I land too heavily the helicopter simply bounces. The record to date is about a 4 foot bounce when I lost it and shut off the throttle too fast.
Obviously the ferrite ring helps
Try and keep your wires neat and tidy, ie the servo wires away from the motor wires etc.
Keep the aerial wire away from other wires & cables if poss and dont have it running next to or touching the carbon boom supports (If yours are carbon)
protecting a few inches of aerial where it leaves the receiver and comes out the frame in fuel tubing or something similar...Better still invest in a base loaded or turbo whip aerial.
Spraying silicon car dashboard spray, WD40 or pledge on the belt can help reduce glitch inducing static.
Keeping the esc and receiver as far apart as possible most certainly helps.
I had my esc right up front underneath the lipo tray & the receiver right at the back, in between the frames above the rear skid.
Never had one glitch and that was with PPM

I'm with gazza on this one, a proper carefull radio instalation with maximum distance between RX & speedo normaly will sort any glitching.
I havent had to go to the great expence of spectrum yet with any of my micro helis & havent had any glitches to date, touch wood

I agree with R50L, Micros on 35MHz ain't to clever with range and glitch's, I fly my T450 with an AR6100 and although i had a problem with the S/W on the V1 AR6100 the AR6100 V1.2 has been flawless, i found this big open space today and the fast forward sped of my T450 was unbelievable (way quicker than my Raptor flat out, I was doing massive loops and circuits flying as far as I would my larger helis.
Edit===== all 3 (2x ARK X400 & 1x Trex 450 SE V1) of my micro helis had range problems some better than others, tried the foil trick, re-arranging electronic components, ferrite rings and I used recommend electronics, some of the combos were
Just to note I followed the same electronics installation rules with my 600, again PPM & havent had any glitches yet either.
Think it proves that installation & component placement counts for most of it (When not using 2.4GHZ)

My friend has a T600E that he has a lot of electrics fitted to (lighting system) when I first flew it had serious range problems probably from the strobes and other light circuits fitted, I persuaded him to goto Spektrum which he did. He did not remount or move components around, just swapped the 35MHz RX for an 2.4GHz AR7000 unit, he now has unlimited range, the way I tested before and after the swap was to go up vertically until the motor stopped, I think on the 35Mhz I could get around 100 to 150 ft before the motor stopped, with the 2.4GHz I had it up so high that I got disorientated at which point I put it into a 45° dive with around 5° neg pitch so I could get it down with forward speed to work out what it was doing.

2.4G is the way to go I have no doubt.
The temptation is to fly these little helis in unusual places where it is hard to be sure someone else isn't setting up a raptor/plank/whatever in a nearby bedroom, that worry is removed using 2.4G.
I've used a fair amount of different components in my 450 electric.
If you are using 35Mhz, then a DSP Rx is the go (Shulze, Hyperion).
Peopkle advise against PCM, however I find my FF7 and 146ipcm has been faultless so far, but when I swapped to that I swapped a few other components as well.
Glitches come from poor layout of the components, and also things like rough bearings. Yuo shoud change the main shaft bearings every crash, particularly the top one if the shaft got bent.
I advise against wd40 on the tail belt as it might rot the rubber eventually - silicone spray lube, or Mr sheen is good. Reduced the static spikes off the belt.
Cheap nasty servos can make noise into the Rx, a cheap ESC BEC will send noise into the Rx. The BEC on my Quark ESC seems very good - better than the pricey medusa BEC I also have and don't use.
when I chenge parts I always do a range check. stand the heli on a box (dont have the antenna in wet grass!) and see what the range is tx antenna down. Its not usually all that far - and swapping and moving components about you can get huge differeneces. Also check the range with the rotor going as that is when there is most noise inside the heli.
I have been flying my 450 at the normal flying field and flying pretty far away and fast and not had any problems with my current setup.
