  • 600 ESC ferrite ring

Finally got round to building my 600, went together like a dream.
First question is do I need to keep the ESC ferrite ring, i'm using Spectrum radio and I could do with another inch on the esc reciever connection.
Second question is how many people are using the supplied lipo and bec unit, have heard stories about current being limited. Im using standard JR servos on the head with a Futaba 401 gyro and 9254 on the tail.
Last question, which lipo guard do you all reccommend??? with the price of these packs (Align 4600 x3) I want plenty of protection.
Really enjoy reading your comments but as a newbie to heli's not really in the position to give anyone advice.

I use Spektrum but have left the ferrite ring in place as i couldnt get it off

A short servo extension lead will sort the problem,i use the standard Align electronics and 3A regulator and Hitec 6965`s on the head and 401/9254

I have had no problems whatsoever with anything over 70 flights

The only Lipo guard i know of is the Aurorra DPM but it is not compatible with the Align packs as it needs special leads, but i am sure there are others

I have set my ESC to middle protection although thats irrelevant now since installing a protection module

Never used extension leads in my planks, always soldered on a longer servo lead. Could get the ferrite ring off by cracking it with wire cutters, thanks for giving me the confidence with the standard electronics, sounds like Align have got it right (again). Thinking that I will get a voltage monitoring unit for packs. What sort of duration should I expect??? Align 4600 packs bog standard 600 with ally sides flying limited to hovering and big figure 8s, got Align carbon blades but trying to get hold of some fun-key semi-symetricals as they are supposed to be good for duration. Or do you know of better blades????
Currently flying my Eco 8 as a step up from 450SE to the 600, think I have a big performance increase coming.

Ive used these to monitor the battery voltage in my 450SE. not sure of voltages etc. used in the 600, so don't know if the same one will do the same job, but here is the link if its of any use to you.

ferrite ring should be left on, even for 2.4 ghz

I elected not to use the 7.4v 1100mah Lipo that came with my 600 kit as I just didnt trust it.
The Lipo in the kit I purchased was knackered. The supplier rightfully replaced it with another Align pack from another kit but I wasn't taking any chances & I fitted a Kokam pack instead.

The Align pack comes in handy for powerering everything up on the bench though
            Cheers,

Mines pretty good as I have been doing electric flight for 10yrs, used to make up 27cell packs for F5B flying. Just finished doing the install of electrics after watching the Finless video.
                  One last question????
Using the Align BEC and 2 cell lipo do I need to fit the 5.1volt regulator, if so where? does it go in channel 4 before the 401 gyro or does it go between the gyro and the 9254 servo, or failing both of those can it go into the bin.
Looking good for a first flight on thurs if the weather is good
