  • trex 600 boom clamp

    Hi Guys,

trev put his 600 in on saturday after the clamp in the frame decided not to be a clamp any more.of course hes running the torque tube so this let the boom become free to do what it wanted.

If you are running the torque tube i strongly recomend you drill the clamp and the boom then put a self tapper in. I used to do this on my raptor 90 and the dyna-x well worth doing.

The plastic used to make the boom clamp is complete rubbish, in order to get it tight enough to hold the boom you end up splittin g the plastic. I have my tail servo mount up against the clamp so the boom cannot move (belt drive though).

Can't belive he bent it again, poor sod

Whilst my boom clamp (torque tube) appears to clamp rather nicely I would say pinning is a good idea as there really isn't anything to hold the boom in other than the clamp....the support struts don't normally make much difference.

On my Nitro kit i intend to do my usual trick of smearing some evostick or similar around the front of the boom and allow it to set before assembly

That normally gives it enough grip to not slip but i am unfamiliar with the Torque tube setup until i get my grubby mits on a kit
