  • Onw Way Bearing Goosed?

Good Evening, hope you've all enjoyed the sunshine.

My one way bearing is locked when i land after a flight (of any length). To unlock it you have to hold the motor drive gear and spin the rotors. I take it this means the bearing is shot and i should replace it. Will a bearing like this casue any problems if i continue to fly? I can't auto anyway so that is not an issue as it'll go in like a sack of spuds even with it working.

Will the new style bolted bearing/gear unit fit my helicopter (450Xl)? If i buy one what else do i have to replace at the same time?

    Thanks.

you could try lubricating the one way bearing, they need lubrication to work properly.
i personally use a ptfe based oil, have been told automatic transmission fluid
    works well.

Replace it and get a spare too.
Somwhere on hear I think nuts was recommending an superior alternative to the align part.
I never had one fail in flight but I'm wrecking one almost every crash.
I have a medusa 2500kv motor driving a 14t pinion (prob switch to 15t soon to push the head speed higher). This has a lot of torque and loads of teeth meshing which means that when the motor goes and the rotor doesn't it doesn't strip the man gear it wrecks the one way bearing.
