  • Bother!!

    Hi

Finally having a good experience with the 450 XL CCPM.

Friday managed to solve the static with good old Mr Sheen and had a good 7 min hover and move about.

Only problem is a tendancy to piro without any warning.

I think this is a glitch induced one so I have invested in some proper ferrite rings. (Current one was a choke which I don't think worked all that well)

So, removed the speed controller plug and .........yep, old heavy fingers broke the tiny retaining clip on one of the leads.

Anyone know where I can find an Align replacement as the Futaba one I tried does not make full contact with the RX pins.

    Cheers

    Anyone?

Wanted to fly tonight but that's out the window.(Work calls)

Don't want to have to bin a bit of kit just to replace the servo end

    Cheers

      Hi Mark
Are you refering to one of the three metal contacts that were in the little plastic plug on the lead from the ESC to the rx?

If so, you can get a kit of bits to make up a new plug (used to shorten servo leads to make installs look nicer). I can't remember where the kits come from but a friend has one and I'll ask him later today.

Cheers Leebert, it is indeed the plastic outer case that I've stuffed. The Futaba one I tried does not allow the pins to be inserted properly.

        Would appreciate that.

        Cheers

It's Midland that do the kit apparently but it's not on their website. Give them a call and hopefully sort out your heli

I know it's an expensive way out but can you not use the plug off an old servo or something?
          Cheers, Lee.

            Hi Leebert

Yes I did think about upgrading my Align tail servo for a better one and use its plug as a replacement.

Still an expensive method but I'm starting very slowly to like this Heli again.

            Cheers

I had a couple of bad experiences recently with glitches and the 450, tried ferrite etc. eventually went over to 2.4 took off the ferrite and so far (touch wood) no problems, although I do have to say the weather has been conspiring against me to stop me flying it.

I know not a cheep cure but it works, also I use a GY401 and S9650 on the tail I was told it was good and they wern't wrong, just got to get enough practice to warrent the money.
              All the best
              Tony.

Trust me mate-its worth the money!!!- went out in the galefor 5mins of really testing flying-got my 450se with 401/9256 combo and DX7- apart from upping the h/speed,it managed nicely - flying in these conditions really sharpens the skill levels and i'am the wrong side of 40 ...

Mark the futaba socket you tried, was it the locating tongue on the side of the plug that stopped it fitting?if so carefully pare it off with a sharp knife & it will then fit!

forgot to add if you do this be sure you refit plug into rx with wires in corect polarity just ensure its same as all other servo wires before you power heli back up.

                      Hi Rcslopesurfer

No it's not the locating plug. I use the Futaba 146 RX so it plugs into it okay.

It's the pins that push into the plug.

I'm going to splice a new lead on the end of the ESC lead and all should then be well.

Looking forward to flying the 450 again and I've not said that in a long time

                      Cheers
