  • Little metal ring

    Hello!

My little metal ring thing arrived today. Can't remember the name of it! It's the thing to stop glitching, or something. Anyway, which cable should it be on, and where abouts?

You mean your ferite ring It goes on the speed controller lead that connects to the reciever m8 wrap the lead around the ferite ring a few times.

Thanks Martin. Should it be closer to the receiver, or closer to the ESC - or does this not matter?

It should be as close to the receiver as you can get it without it causing a problem getting the servo connectors into the receiver.

Thats assuming your using 35mhz, if your using 2.4gig stuff you should not put any ferrite on the leads as it can upset the servo signals.
              All the best

Does it say this in the 2.4G instructions or is it hearsay? Just interested as I can't understand why a ferrite ring would influence a servo signal under any circumstances...

hmmmm, dont think so.....correct me if I am wrong, but it shouldnt make any difference!

it might even help, but not sure how much because 2.4ghz is less susceptable to interference etc than 35mhz.

although, on long servo wires, it still might be advisable to use a ferrite ring on 2.4ghz because the long leads can act as an aerial and pick up lone signals!

At this moment in time im afraid i'm going to have to say just hearsay.

But I know I read it on one of the information websites as I thought it an interesting piece of info, Unfortunately I cannot remember which website. But knowing the unreliability of the information found on the web this had to be a fairly well respected site for me to take note of it.

I will try and figure where I saw the info when I do I will post the source on here.

                      Ok, cheers Sesame....

as far as I know it shouldnt interfere with the signals going down the servo lead because the signals are the same as a 35mhz signal!

but if the ferrite ring is placed near to the antenna, then this may cause some problems...I will email Spectrum and find out.....

Anyone got a photo of how theirs is wrapped? I have my ESC in the front, under the battery, and the Rx is at the back.
