Got My Trex 550E 3G Today ;-)

It is smaller than the 600, but not significantly. As you saw, quite a bit bigger than the 450 though. I don't have a 500 anymore to photo compare it to

Hey matey.

Unfortunately not as it's my wedding anniversary this Sunday and so I'm planning on a weekend with the family.
The better half puts up with a lot of heli related stuff so the odd weekend away from it to be with the family is fine by me.

I'm hoping to get it done ready for next week though and test fly by Wednesday I'd say, I'm onto the frames now so it's not taking long to do.

I'll get a formely que ready for test flights ;-)

I really want one of these but when I saw the price of even the cheaper Turnigy batteries at £100 a piece, I had a bit of a shock.

Doesn't this heli take 6S 5,000 mAh batteries? You can get a 30C Turnigy for about US$70.

Hey all.

Sorry updates have been thin on the ground, but I have got my 550 95% finished now. I only have the a few final things to get done, bit all radio gear is in and the 3G is all setup ready to go.

I found the machine easy to build, typical Align really in building stages and if you've built other models from the range you could build this one without instructions.

I to had to lightly sand the inside of my auto hub sleeve, nothing major but I think it's the black anodizing making tolerancing too tight.
Tail gearbox on my model has lined up ok, thought I'd need to tweek mine as Rob did.
The manual does show fitting carbon servo mounting plate spacer on both sides of the elevator servo mounts to get it inline.

Battery space seems generous to me, mind you the battery stands on it's side.

Otherwise all went well and I can't wait to test fly now.

I try to post some pictures later, it's my 1st year wedding anniversary today so all else gets forgot today :-)
