  • TREX 700E Head Speed

A question for any other pilots out there flying a Trex 700 conversion:-

Having recently had a Kontroniks motor seize up on me for reasons unknown I thought I would clarify what sort of Headspeed your running in the hover?

I've just installed a new motor and feel it's working harder than it needs to at 20K RPM hovering, they are Radix Blades with a FBL head and Mod 1 Gears I want to be careful this time not to foul a brand new motor up in the first week!

    Thanks

    John

    20K hovering
    ???

I have seen a suzi hans conversion in action and that flys very nicely with a 1950 to 2000 headspeed. There is scope to increase the headspeed if required to 2100 or maybe a little more. This setup is using a Kontronik Jive 80+HV and a pyro 520kv motor and a similar setup but using a scorpion 4035-400.

I don't own one or been through the setup but my question is, "Have you been through the setup to allow the ESC to "learn" the motor and have you calibrated the controller to your throttle settings?"

OK so it looks like it's not far off the mark, it just sounds real fast but then I was trying to get a measurement whilst holding the TX & Tacho!

Hi Andy yes been through the full step by step routine and added a separate Gyro as I wasn't happy with the FBL system on the tail.

Will double check my Jive setting in the morning too
