  • Would I be mad ?

Still not sure of which heli to buy but after playing on phoenix for a couple of weeks I find the Trex600 far nicer to fly than the 450. Would I be mad to jump into a 600 immediately ?
I know I will crash, will the 600 cost alot more in repairs ?

Yes, per crash. But the 600 is far more stable being bigger. Less crashes that way.

A pal has a 450 and it really not a heli to learn on. Too twitchy and not able to cope with any kind of wind unless flown by an expert. Cheap parts unless you upgrade to make it better to fly, then the parts are dearer per crash.

If you want to go electric, I would personally go for the 600 if you want to afford the build costs. Lovely machine that will last you well into expert territory. Otherwise, Raptor/Knight nitro.

    That's my twopennyworth.

I think it might be difficult to safely fly a big helicopter like the 600 in a public area like a park or playing field.
I fly a 450 during the day (when the nosey children are at school) and i don't have any problems on quite a small playing field.
If you have got plenty of private space it wouldn't be an issue i suppose.
I don't know about the 600 but my 450 has been quite cheap to repair during my (fairly steep self taught) learning curve.

If you want a big electric the 600 makes a lot of sense, its aimed at the mass market and will be suitable for learning and onto very advanced flying

The Lipos are cheaper than most 50 size helis but they are still very expensive and need looking after

I would recommend Nitro as a learning tool but if electric is the only option and you want something bigger,go for the 600

Also its very cheap to repair for the main crash items and they always come in two`s

So its like have 1 crash and get the next one free

Electic isn't the only option, I simply dont like the nitro sound and mess

electric still isnt there and i will be forced to maim anybody that disagrees with me (anybody noticed trev limping?)

600 belongs at a club field and shouldnt be flown elsewhere. without some very careful consideration.

so now your at a club you might as well save yourself a bunch of money and go nitro.

No seriously he is right,,the 600 is a big and powerful piece of kit and should be treated with care and used in appropriate places only

If you can use Nitro i would strongly recommend you go down that route,at least to begin with and see where the hobby takes you

To be fair Trev told me his limping was a medical condition and nothing else

Ade is talking crap again, the 600 is the best heli out there at the moment, well to fly anyway, I know this because the Knight 3D is meant ot be the bollocks, I fly both and prefer my Trex 600.

... but when not flying the 600 is terrible, some, most of the plastic parts worry me, the electronics are as bad - having said that, it is still excellent value and I'd never part with mine.

I guess its the same old story of it depends what you use it for.

Loads of people are happy with their Rex 600's and fly them all the time with no problems.

If you are wringing it out all the time it's not the best tool for the job as Trev says...

Just depends what you need/want it to do
