  • Motor upgrade to 450SE

Ive now flown the 450 and I have to say I love the little critter, although at the mo im waiting for a few parts to replace those that got bent yesterday morning (NOT MY FAULT lol)

one thing whilst trying a little inverted flight was I thought the motor was lacking a little power, whilst browsing through a few online shops I found this

    http://trex450.co.uk/shop/images/Aon...-3500.Orig.gif

AON 3500kv motor has anyone tried one of these and what did they think, plus im guessing here as new to the leccy scene I would need to upgrade the ESC to a 35amp jobbie.

ive see some writups on trex tunning etc regarding these motors and they read well however there is nothing like personal experience
    All the best

    Hi

The std motor supplied with the SE kit, 450S and even the newer version of the 450X with black plastic frames has loads of power, battery packs make a lot of difference but certainly mine with a TP2100 3 S pack has plenty of power, just going to build a V2 SE which has the 430XL this should have stupid power.
So what I am trying to say is you don't need to go to expensive aftermarket motors now as the newer Align ones are very good.

    Cheers

Im not sure what the one in the frame is but I wasnt impressed with the power, the batteries are fairly new they are kokams and they have been fully charged with a balancer. so I dont think the batteries are a problem.

I was just a little disapointed with the climb rate especially inverted the heli did seam to be struggling i'll reexamine the setup while im putting it back together this evening before I go out and spend money on a new engine.

the 430L is fine for 3D which is a standard Align motor. The onkly thing you gain with aftermarket motors these days is either
        1. even more power that you probably won't need
        2. better efficiency, the Align motors normally aren't very efficient
