you obviously have been watching the finless videos if you look at the one for esc's he explains how you can tell whether you need to reverse the throttle of not, as at high throttle it goes into programming mode, at low throttle it goes through the setup to let you know how its been set.

But I would agree if you have never set up one before then seek some real life advice from a club member or local shop before attempting to fly it
Yeah, thanks for the Sesame. I have got the videos. Gonna watch the bit about installing the motor now. Looked pretty simple, but ...

Lets give it a bash! (Not literally, I hope!)

deciding if you need to seek first hand advice from shop or local expert (if there is one) depends on how adventurous/confident/foolhardy you are.
If the motor spins when you push the stick foreward, and stops when you pull it back, you shoudl be able to manage some sort of hop without immediate disaster!
The disaster comes when you start to think, hey, this thing will actually fly!

Before I tried flying my little electric I spun it up with no main blades on (not too fast) and yawed it to check the gyro was doing the right thing and trying to resist.
You can also check the controls tip the rotor disc the right way, and the rudder turns the heli the right way if its on a polished floor.

One good tip is make sure the blades are fairly tight in the grips. When you hold the heli out with the rotor axis horizontal and the blades sticking out sideways they should stay there and only swing down if you give the heli a vigorous shake.
Then provided you set up your pitch curve so there is only slight negative pitch (up to 2 degrees negative only) then you are unlikely to get a boom strike if you slap the heli down a bit hard on the undercarriage.
The blades only hit the tail boom when they swing in the blade grips.

        Ta again, Moyesboy.

I think I am going to have to go it alone. I know it's completely different, but I have flown the Lama for a while, and started with the 'hop' flights. I know the Trex is a different kettle of fish, but I think I'm going to give it a bash..

My initial worry is making sure the throttle does what I want it to. So I'm going to focus on getting that right. I have been irritated by the postal service though.

Got home, and there was an (expected) card from the post office, saying they needed a signature. This contains my batteries and my ESC.

On the back of the card, it said to go collect it at the local post office in 24 HOURS!!?? Usually, they say by 16h00 or something, but now they say only tomorrow! Devistated!

Going to try visit the post office later and see if it's maybe there.

        Darn!

In the mean time, it's Throttle/Pitch curves for me!

        All channels not reveresed, right?

Most ESCs wont supply power to the moter until they arm, and thats low throttle (stick full down) - usually a little musical jingle! If theres no jingle at low throttle stick then u probably need to reverse the throttle servo via the Tx.
