  • Rotor should spin freely?

I was watching a finless video about maintanance, and once thing seems not so right on mine.

If I spin the main rotors clockwise, they do not spin freely. They seem to judder slightly. However, if I spin them anti clockwise, they spin freely. But then, the larger of the 2 grears doesn't move. That is, the one touching the motor.

    IS this normal?

    Are you sure?
Should be the other way around mate.
Spinning clockwise the blades turn freely as the one way bearing is not engaged and the bottom taildrive gear turns only...This enables the blades to spin freely during autorotations when throttle hold is engaged.

Spinning anticlockwise engages the one way bearing which in turn drives the main gear (Top one) and the motor pinion...Hence the notchiness

Sounds like the one way bearing is upside down...
Pull the mainshaft, remove and split the gears and turn it 180 degrees its easy enough. Dont forget to grease it again afterwards

Sorry boys! The blades DO spin freely clockwise, with a shudder when spinmning anti clockwise. Is this normal?

            yes thats normal

it means that when you stop the motor the rotors keep spinning. used used for autorotations

              Thanks Ade.

And it's OK that they don't spin freely the opposite direction?

Thats the armature of the motor going past the magnets (or however it works in a brushless). Its normal.
