  • T-Rex newbie problems

    Hi

Tried setting up my newly swapped T-Rex 450 XL this evening with some problems.

    Charged the Li-Po okay.

Put new crystal into Futaba 146 PCM receiver and Transmitter.

Switched on TX then connected battery in Trex.

I get the three beeps then nothing suggesting that the ESC cannot find the transmitter.

I then realise I've put the TX crystal into the RX and vice versa.

Since then, nothing but the three beeps.

    Question,

    1. Will this sh@g the receiver and why was I so stupid?

    2. What is the difference between a Futaba 35-1 and a 35-10 RX crystal and is this the reason for the problem?

I've tested the TX and crystals on the Shuttle and everything on the TX side is fine.

Any suggestions before I pull the RX out and try with proper batteries etc etc?

    Cheers

Shouldn't shag anything putting the wrong xtal in. That's all I can offer right now.

If you have a spare Rx battery, un plug the supply from the Lipos (probably from the throttle/ESC channel) and plug the Rx battery in instead and see if anything moves.

If the shuttle works from the Tx, try the Rx crystal from the shuttle in the T-Rex

      Thanks Jimbob

      I've just found the answer.

The Futaba 146 uses single conversion crystals not dual conversion.

Hence the lack of receiver input.

Thanks for the quick reply though. Its my first PCM receiver and also Trex, never stop learning!!

      Thanks again.

      Cheers
