  • V2 canopy on V1

I bought a canopy at the 3D Champs for my Trex. Only when I got home did I realise it was for a V2. Must have been watching the superb flying that overcame me

Offering it up to my V1 it seems that all I need to do is trim about 3/4 inch (that's 18mm to you youngsters ) away from the bottom area of the canopy where it goes around the skids.

Has anyone done this before I start to hack it to bits !!?

Best way of trimming it? Grind away with a dremel type stone or cut with a fine saw?

    Cheers

Not done it David but I'd say possibly better to use your Dremel

Phil, ta - but I haven't got one!!! Need to find a local heli flyer who can lend me one.

I dont like the idea of cutting or sawing - a bit too drastic. Think dremel route is probably the best.

Yeah, canopy is a bit thin. If you are careful you will be OK but easier if you can scrounge a Dremel.

You could borrow mine but its a fair hike

Dremel works great on Fibreglass canopies, just use the sanding drum attachment - turn it up to top whack and draw a pencil line on the canopy as a marker so that you don't go mad - it'll take about 10 / 15 seconds max. One big hint though is to keep the dremel (or the canopy) moving, the dremel will remove a massive amount of material in next to no time so just take it easy and watch for the dust - it's finer than flour and goes EVERYWHERE!
