  • Malfunctioning motor or ESC?

Tried starting up yesterday with a fully charged battery and the motor just chugs round for about 5 sec at a very low speed then stops, even if I go to full throttle there is nothing.I re-programmed the ESC but it just did the same!! I have taken off the motor and it spins freely.I did notice the other day the ESC made some unusual bleep sequences when connection of the battery.
Any ideas guys? I am leaning towards a confussed ESC that will need replacing but I thought I would ask the experts first.

is the motor properly connected? all the plugs soldered correctly no dry joints. as its the motor that make the beeping noise so it might be connected correctly!

Try changing round the 3 wires that connect the motor to the ESC. Try diffrent combinations.

Change the combo? is that not bad?
All the solders are good and solid.
The motor still bleeps via the ESC when turned on.

Ah so it was pre soldered... wont be that then. What ESC / motor is it then?
          Cheers

The motor is An Align 430L brushless
            The ESC is Align RCE-BL25G
            Battery is 11.1v 2200mah lipo

Is it possible to test either one induvidualy to see which is playing.I would test the motor but having 3 wires I will probably hook up the wrong ones and cause more damage!

do some basic continuity tests on each cable for breaks, multimeter set to buzzer would do.

                Long shot here.

You have re-programmed your esc with a linear line on the throttle in normal flight mode haven't you.

I'd start by connecting up a different motor if you have one, if it does the same then go through the ESC and Tx programming again.

Next try a different ESC if you have one or can borrow one

Ah yes linear flight mode eek bugger how stupid can I get DOH! cheers Busterboy never thought of that as a problem.and thanks everyone else for the input will try each one as I go....would not linear really make a difference then? ( thirst for knowledge )

Ok tried the linear line method but still the same result!Back to square 1.

I have had similar issue and bought a new motor..same...changed esc..same..
It seems to be combination of bad solder joint, swapped wires or broked esc...
Resoldered plugs, both motors now work with one esc..other esc sent back as new.
                        In short...resolder HOT iron....

Worth a try I suppose .Have noticed the ESC gets very hot even after only 20 secs of use!!
