  • T-Rex 600 DFC Swash: how smooth?

I just got myself the 550 pro dfc combo that comes with the 600 dfc swashplate (that one: 600DFC CCPM Metal Swashplate H60248). I noticed that the swash is surprisingly 'sticky'. When I hold the outer part (that would get connected to the servo links) with one hand and spin the middle part (connected to the dfc links) with the other hand it doesn't feel smooth at all. Spins for maybe 1/2 revolution and then stops.

Is this how it's supposed to be or did I get a bad swash with my combo?

I've previously built a 450 pro dfc, and that swashplate was super smooth, so I'm wondering whether something is wrong with my 600 swash, or if bigger swashplates are supposed to behave like that (because they have to withstand heavier loads or something).

    Thanks for any help!

I have the same helli and I don't remember the swash being sticky at all. I have a spare swash at home so I'll check it tonight and get back to you.

Put it on the Heli without blades on and just run it for a minute or so whilst circling the cyclic stick. It will prolly loosen up as it's new. Maybe a bit of silicone spray or dry fluid whilst it spinning.

I have just checked mine and it also only spins about 1/2 turn. As long as it is not feeling rough I am sure you are good to go.

my stock one was the same. I have a quick UK swash which is slightly better / more free.

Because of the way that particular bearing works, its not going to be that fluid, and you have to remember that there is hardly any stored energy (kinetic energy) in the 'flywheel' that is the swash plate when you spin it by hand, so it wont take long for friction to stop it spinning. When you put some blades on you will probably notice a bit of a difference with the very significant flywheel energy

Quick update on this, I got myself a spare swash for comparison, and that one rotates much smoother than the one that came with the kit. On the other hand, the inner ball connecting to the main shaft feels less smooth than on the swash that came with the kit. Ah well. Guess both swash plates would have worked equally fine. I ended up using the spare and had my maiden flight today. Everything went well !
