  • Been out a while now whats it like to own?

    Hi Guys
I need to update my main heli.
I have a raptor 30 v2 which is my hack model & I have a Raptor 50 which is in bits at the moment due to the exhaust falling apart thats now repaired thanks to xygax.
So I'm thinking about buying another 50 kit so I can retire one of the Raptors for spares etc.
The thing is what do I buy as there realy is only two contenders for me these two being the 600N sport or the knight 3d.
For some reason I realy am worrying about buying the Knight due to horror stories I've read here. That leaves me the safer option of purchasing the Align 600N sport but what is it like to own & run? is it easy to get spares for & more importantly is it easy to repair etc.
I already run the 600af electric & am more than happy with the flight performance as they are well above my abillities.
I know several people here run 600 nitros what are your honest views of keeping it in the air etc?

My T-rex 600n was cheaper than I expected after its 1st major crash. 2 booms at 8 pounds is stunning 2 feathering spindle's for 6 pounds and its almost like buy one lot of spares and you have spares for the 2nd crash.

My titan was sold and the T-rex has become my only helicopter now.

They seem to me to be smooth stable or as nuts as you want to make them.

Not prefect the dam rev-lock mount is a royal pain but other than that there good machines IMO.

I absolutely love mine I have never flown the Knight 3D so can't comment on it.

If you run the high head speed reconmended it can be a little daunting at first but eventually you get used to it spares are easilly available and some are interchangeable with your 600e and as usual with Align you get two of most things.

Can't say much more really, I love both my 600's and think they are easy to work on, robust and the spares prices are very good

      Cheers

Did you fit a revlock Ron or are you both running without them?

              What horror stories?
If you mean the one about pinion bearings causing problems (can't remember the member's name), that turned out to be his fault. He had damaged the fan hub causing it to run out of true.

I've had my knight 3D for a couple of months now and put about 2 gallons through it without a single problem. I haven't stuffed it yet so can't comment on how crash worthy it is but I'm well happy with it.
Oh and it hasn't needed any upgrades to make it fly right!

Not just that one but richieclarkie keeps chewing clutches in his.
Someone else had murderous trouble with a knight 50 sport etc etc.
These things always stick in my mind & I'm kind of nervous to buy one.
I dont doubt for one minuet that it's the best 50 currently but possibly it's not the most reliable one & that realy matters to me.
I have precious little time to fly as it is let alone with possibly a heli that is a little more difficult to keep air worthy. If I wanted greif I would keep my Raptor 50 as that gives me enough trouble as it is.

If you want a 50 heli that just works straight out of the box, and is reliable, then I would suggest a Sceadu. They've been around for a long time now so any teething problems that they might have had in the past are long gone, unlike the newbies on the block.

without starting a debate, my two peneth is this: ive had my 3D now for just over 2 months, done 3 gallons, and apart from a nicked tail belt (my fault, caugh the tail in a not so great auto), ive had no problems at all

                      Hi.

I Bought a 600n sport kit about 4 months ago, and absolutely love it.
I have 2 Raptors as well, an SE and Titan, but the 600n sport runs rings around them. I fitted mine with a revlock 10 from the outset, and apart from the awkwardness of fitting the sensor (I used a small piece of plasticard, some double sided tape and 2 tie wraps).

Just recently one of my flying friends put his in (orientation problems).

So I bought what was left, while he bought another kit .

They are stunning machines, go for it.

WOuld recommend a couple of extras for a new build.

                      1) The Gyro mount and shorter canopy mounts £3.50 ish

                      2) The frame braces £4 ish

                      and the align metal fan.

I have since rebuilt the crash damaged one as well, I have fitted the Align governor to that (but have to say I would still go for revlock)

                      That flys beautifully too.

                      You will not regret it

                      Pete

Richieclarke goes from 0 to infinity and flys 8 days a week (Hi Richie )

My Knight sport is 10 months old, I fly regularly or average once a week, probably had 3 or 4 gallons through it and still solid as rock

Oh and it hasn't needed any upgrades to make it fly right!
The only mode nessasary on the sport is the top canopy supports needs to be mounted further forwards (actually it's not a nessasary mode because you can fly without canopy ) Not sure about the new kits if this has been corrected

Most would prefer to fly without that hideous sport canopy anyway.
Course you could always buy the new canopy for it but then that would be an upgrade which it doesnt need

                            I ought to interject here.

As most know I bought the 3D when they first came out in Feb. I put a lot of fuel through it and experienced the usual probs being mainly start shaft area. The Knight head and tail has been rock solid.

I had a bad run late summer and got peed off with replacing clutches (unknown reason). Anyway at Charmouth I thought I'd get a 600N Pro to attempt to get a bit more stick time.

Overall the 600N is OK. HOWEVER, I finally got round to putting my 3D back in the air the other day.............. I now know why I loved it soooooo much.

Rob Blake, Ade and Roger (climbout) have all been big supports and Rob Blake has worked very hard to keep me in thge air and ensure that any issues I've had have been resolved. I'm not saying that everything is perfect, but I would say that if you are after the best flying 50 get a Knight.

I would also say that the Align would also be a great heli, but make sure you upgrade the head.

Martin, why not Pm richieclarkie and ask! you know he will tell it straight.

Problems, there been a few on the Knight, some customer and some supply based.

How many left that have not been sorted, none!(kiss of death)

About Kn sport, Ive had one from the 1st batch, its been in more times than I care to say, not always by me

And its still the same frames.

I luv my knight sport its a cheap workhorse, seen them 4 170 or less, most that have had one felt the same, but it suffered with bearings on the 1st ones and its had to live with the flack because of it.

The thing is compass have never hid they held there hands up and replaced the parts FOC..

This is one reason why I help the team pilots and talk with the factory.

I would go with what people fly around you, you'll always get help and spares that way.

There are many that don't want to follow the crowd and be different!

and get a knight.. if there not 100% happy then theirs people that will listen.

Best of Luck in your choice mate..
