  • tail box pinning mod

Is there a mod for the 600N tail box to stop it rotating on the boom? it happened to me yesterday, landing the heli and the tailblades caught a stone and the whole tail box rotated 90 degrees anti-clockwise. thankfully only damaged the tailblades.
Is the mod just to drill a hole and put a selftapper through tailbox and into boom? Any help would be great, thanks.

Thats what i did with my 450.... using a 1.5mm or 2mm drill bit once i was happy the boom was spot on and drilled through both box and tube then used a small spare self-tapper i had ... holds it great .... less necessary on 450 but i did it anyway

I have heard off and used other methods on other helis like my 500 I just thought i would ask around to see if there was a tried and tested way of doing this

yep i've just drilled a small hole through the box and boom and used a self tapper to stop the the tail box from being able to rotate on the boom.

the carbonfiber boom on my 600 has a hole in it at the tail end but it would be too big for a screw to hold it. my 500 has a bung type plug that fits through the tail box and into the boom, but the tail box on the 600 doesnt, Im not quite sure if there should be or not

Ive just replaced the boom on my 600. There is certainly no bung style plug on the tail box. Just a small drill and self tapper. Couple of minutes job and piece of mind that its secured from rotating on the boom :-)

cheers shades this is probably the way i am going to go. on a side note i have posted another question about the lenght of tail blades, do you know if you are using 96 or 104mm tail blades?
