Anyone else having a problem with the lower bearing (the one in the lower bearing holder) on the main shaft coming out after a few flights? Should I locktite it in? It does snap in but comes out again after 3 flights, is anyone else having this issue?

You've put the bearing in the wrong way, the open end down on the bottom bearing, and the open end up on the top bearing.

Not sure I follow you but are you saying if I put the bottom bearing & holder in, in such a way so that the bearing could only fall down and would be touching the main gear gubbins? The top bearing would then be loaded from the top of the heli and pressed in?

Yes that's right, if there the other way up the main shaft just forces the bearing out of its holder.

the oipen part needs to be facing up so that if you had the holder and the bearing in and you pushed down onb the bearing it couldnt fall through....the motor pinion should be set in such a way that the pinion rests on the bearing this further helps to stabalise the shaft

Normally there's a washer between the bearing and the main gear. Check your instructions, I'm sure there will be a washer.

I'll check the manual again this evening before the change, thought I'd built it correctly but you never know.

Someone I know did the same thing, the manual is not that clear. But my friend had about 2-3 mm play vertically when the bearing was the wrong way round.

Yup, text should face up on upper block and down on bottom block. If you think logically, the bearings need to be this way to trap the shaft between the bearing blocks correctly, otherwise as said its free to just pull out. If you tried to do any hard flying like this it could be catastrophic!

The manual needs to be clearer, but it also helps to think about the loads at work when you build these things - if you think about it for a moment it's pretty clear how it should be...

Yes I have 2-3 mm play and have put the supplied shims in place to plug the gap. Will flip the block & bearing before flying this weekend. Thanks for all your help guys.
