PL8 & Progressive RC Parallel charge boards for 600 efl

Hi guys, I've been going mad this morning trying to figure out why none of my boards work. I have used the PL8 with the board it came with to charge up 1 X 3300mah in Accurate charge mode no problems. I have since tried to use my parallel charge boards which come with a set of bannanas from the board into the pos & Nega of the charger and a 7 wire lead that comes from the board into the pl8 for balancing. I have set the pl8 to 'XH Wiring Mode" but still get "Bad cell count" when trying to charge. I have tried 3 boards and leads and countless lipo's, can anybody help who has one of these please? what am I missing? Many Thanks, Ian.

Hi I had to move the pos wire to the end hole in the connection block. Have a look in your instructions and it shows the cables and connections. Can you plug the new board into the old board and try it that way ?

If your using the stock cable that came with the board,
then that should be plugged into the adapter that comes with the PL 8 and not on the XH wiring setting.
Or did you purchase this adapter then that can be plugged directly into the PL 8 and XH wiring setting should then be used

Sorry if I'm silly. U can plug the para board to the original balance board and the plug the balance board to the PL8?

It only requires the XH setting if you have purchased their PL8 adapter lead.
If you are using the stock lead that came with the board, plug that into the adapter board that came with your PL8 and leave the charger on the FMA setting.
You dont make it clear if you have the PL8 adapter lead that you can purchase separately for the board?

I have the pl8 adaptor lead that is specific to the progressive Rc's board, this I plug directly into the pl8. I have tried the supplied board and lead I.e that came with the pl8 then plugged the lead into that from the board and it still doesn't work.

I'm not sure how many lipos you are trying to charge at once, but it should be possible to charge just one to start with. In parallel charging all the battery positions should be identical. You can check this with a meter. It is possible that there is a fault on the adapter you have bought.

There is nothing complex about this adapter. It should look exactly the same electrically as your battery. I would check the connections with a meter. If the charger thinks the adapter is different to a battery then it probably is.

Thanks for all your comments, think I'm going to factory reset my pl8 then start off with using the adaptor that came with the board in XH mode to see if that works.

Also from your comments it seems I might be missing a lead with my charger as all I got was the charger itself with its croc clips, a small board with an imbedded lead and a larger board with an imbedded lead. By Imbedded I mean it is fixed to the board and is not detachable without cutting. Am I missing a lead?

Sorry. I don't have a PL8. The manual should tell you what comes with it.

My is the same I don't have the croc, because my is the ec5 version. Anyway it does come with one balance board as you described. What I would do is to plug the original board in to the charge and then the progressive one in to the balance board

Ian,

It sounds like you may have bad adapter cables - we received a batch that was assembled incorrectly and unfortunately a few made it out before we spotted the error. If you compare the one working cable you have with the remaining three, you'll probably see that the connector is flipped at the end that plugs into the board.

If this is the problem, you should be able to get the other three boards to work using that cable, which will keep you going until we can get replacement cables over to you. Alternatively, if you're handy with a little screwdriver, you can pop those wires out of the connector and flip it around to fix the problem.

Let us know if that is the situation you've got, and we'll get you taken care of.
